Abstract

A novel and useful method of certifying an article, and an article identifying structure suitable for implementing such a certifying method. An identifying structure containing an identifying material having an isotope content of at least one constituent element different from a natural value is imparted to an article, identifying information obtained from an identifying material contained in an identifying structure is recorded in a specified location, identifying information is detected from the identifying structure of the article for comparing with the recorded identifying information, and the authenticity of the article is judged.
