Abstract

A process for preparation of 1-substituted-5(1H) -tetrazolinone compounds represented by the general formula (2), characterized by reacting a 5-mercaptotetrazole compound represented by the general formula (1a) with a hypohalite in the presence or absence of an alkali, reacting a carbamic acid ester represented by the general formula (1b) with an azide in a solvent in the presence or absence of a Lewis acid, or reacting a carbamoyl azide represented by the general formula (1c) with a base in a solvent in the presence or absence of a Lewis acid: (1a) (1b) (1c) (2) wherein Q is optionally substituted phenyl or the like, and R14 is C1-4 alkyl.
