Abstract

A lancet assembly (20) allowing a needle tip portion covered with a protective cap to be exposed so that the needle tip portion is not bent substantially, comprising a lancet (22) having a lancet body (26) with a projected needle at a tip part and a protective cap (24) for covering the projected needle formed integrally with each other and a cover (28) for covering the protective cap (24) and a part (30) of the lancet body (26) adjacent to the protective cap (24), wherein the protective cap (24) is formed in a rectangular shape in cross section and the part (30) of the lancet body (26) adjacent to the protective cap (24) is formed in a circular shape in cross section.
