Abstract

A comprehensive system of universally compatible semi-elliptical sails for optimum performance and onvenience on any point of sail, this cost effective performance alternative to taller masts serves sailmakers, boat builders and sailors equally. System sails include convertible genoajib (22), inner convertible genoajib (22A), maxgenoa (22B), universal optimized battenless sail (22C), hoisted self-tacking maxjib (23), hoisted self-tacking overlapping maxjib (23A), hoisted self-boomed maxmain (23C) mast furling maxmain (125), and boom-furling maxmain (126), each sail complying with predetermined positive roach parameters. Low profile, automatic jib and mainsail stowage bags (44, 46) enable uncompromised performance while innovative battens and batten substitutes enable new types of sails. Masthead energy platform (134) extends rig dimensions while integrating natural energy elements with communications, safety and video functions. The system eliminates on-deck sail handling and sail inventories as well as lazy jacks and external jib booms and wishbones. Its ideal sail interface and sail system design generate performance, safety, and convenience synergies for any commercial or recreational sailboat.
