Abstract
A light sending and receiving module having less number of optical elements and a simplified holding mechanism, comprising a stem member (109) forming one end part of a casing and having a projected part (109a) projected to the inside of the casing to provide a top part forming a mounting surface and a light emitting element (103) installed on the inner surface thereof, an element holding block (107) having a first mounting surface fixed to the mounting surface of the projected part, an extension part extended to a side and having an opening part formed therein, a second mounting surface (115) formed on the mounting surface side of the opening part and tilting at a specified angle relative to the first mounting surface, a WDM filter (104) installed on the second mounting surface of the element holding block, a light receiving element (102) installed on one wall part thereof opposed to the WDM filter, a single light condensing means for condensing received light incident on a light receiving element and sending light outgoing from the light emitting element, and a ferrule holder (113) allowing the transmission path end of an optical fiber to be fitted to a stem member at a separated position and forming the other end part of the casing.
