Abstract

A process for producing an alicyclic-amine α-halocarboxamide derivative represented by the following formula (3): (3) (wherein ring Z represents an optionally substituted alicyclic hydrocarbon ring; m is an integer of 1 or larger; and R1, R2, and R3 are the same or different and each represents halogeno, hydrogen, or an optionally substituted hydrocarbon group, provided that at least one of R1, R2, and R3 is halogeno) which comprises reacting an amine compound represented by the following formula (1): (1) (wherein ring Z and m are the same as defined above) with either an α-halocarboxylic acid represented by the following formula (2): (2) (wherein R1, R2, and R3 are the same as defined above) or a reactive derivative thereof in the presence of a base. By this process, an α-halocarboxamide derivative utilizable as, e.g., a photographic chemical can be efficiently and economically produced.
