Abstract

L'invention concerne des catalyseurs d'oxydation préférés à base de cuivre contenant de faibles concentrations de métaux du groupe platine et procédés faisant intervenir des catalyseurs afin d'oxyder sélectivement le monoxyde de carbone provenant d'un flux gazeux d'entrée qui contient du monoxyde de carbone, de l'oxygène et de l'hydrogène. Les procédés appliqués à l'aide desdits catalyseurs d'oxydation préférés permettent une oxydation sélective du monoxyde de carbone avec une consommation minimale d'hydrogène sur de larges plages de température. Dans certains modes de réalisation, les catalyseurs selon l'invention comportent un support d'oxyde sur lequel est dispersé du cuivre ou un oxyde de cuivre, un métal du groupe platine et un oxyde métallique réductible. Dans d'autres modes de réalisation, les catalyseurs selon l'invention comportent un support d'oxyde de cérium sur lequel est dispersé du cuivre ou un oxyde de cuivre et un métal du groupe platine. L'invention concerne également un appareil, tel qu'un dispositif de transformation du combustible, qui fournit de l'hydrogène à une pile à combustible et qui comprend les catalyseurs d'oxydation selon l'invention.
