Abstract

The present invention provides a variable display sign system that enables the display of a plurality of graphical representations, for example advertisements, through the use of an endless belt. The endless belt (10), with which the graphical representations are associated, is supported by a collection of rollers (100,110, 120, 130) that are strategically located within the structural frame of the sign system, thereby enabling movement of the endless belt (10) in a manner that is similar to that of a conveyor belt. The movement of the endless belt is terminated once a desired orientation of a graphical representation within a display window of the structural frame, is achieved. The graphical representation may be lit by an illumination system that is operatively integrated into the structural frame. The desired movement of the endless belt is provided by a drive mechanism operatively associated with at least one of the rollers and a collection of guiding means that may be provided along the path of the endless belt. In addition, the tension within the endless belt can be adjusted by the use of a tensioning means (125) that is associated with at least one of the rollers (120) of the sign system, thereby potentially ensuring adequate contact with the rollers. The sign system further comprises a control means that provides for the operation of the sign system, for example controlling the exposure time of the graphical representations within the display window.
