Abstract

Ce dispositif comprend deux rouleaux (6) pouvant être refroidis, espacés radialement, disposés dans le sens de coulée de façon à former le côté large du feuillard métallique à la manière d'une coquille pouvant être mise en rotation. Ces rouleaux (6) délimitent entre eux une fente de coulée (7), les faces de cette dernière et des rouleaux (6) formant des éléments d'étanchéification (5) réglables. Afin d'améliorer l'étanchéité, chaque élément d'étanchéification (5) présente une paroi avant (10) et une paroi arrière (11) sensiblement parallèles, placées à distance l'une de l'autre, comportant des zones marginales (14) qui sont reliées solidement les unes aux autres et qui forment entre elles une cavité (8) soumise à une pression gazeuse, à la manière d'une poche. Cette cavité (8) peut être raccordée à une conduite d'alimentation (9) destinée à un gaz inerte sous pression. La paroi avant (10) de chaque élément d'étanchéification (6) pouvant être appliquée sur les faces (12) des rouleaux (6) afin d'assurer l'étanchéité des faces de la fente de coulée (7) est constituée d'un matériau résistant au feu et perméable au gaz.
