Abstract

The invention concerns a protective respirator. Said respirator is generally shaped like a hood made of extensible fabric enclosing the head of an individual, but leaving his vision completely free. The hood is provided, on its front inner surface, with an extensible net-like pocket (19) open in its central part and wherein is inserted a filter (17). The filter (17) is exchangeable.

Description

 Respiratory protection mask

The present invention relates to a respiratory protection mask, or even an antipollution mask, having the general shape of a hood, whether or not provided with a visor, which envelops the head of an individual, but leaves him his complete vision. Respiratory protection masks are already known, such as that described in document EP 0 876 830 published on 11.11.1998 which describes a mask shaped as a hood which comprises a visor and a filter material sealed on the stretchable material of the hood . In the structure of the mask of this document, provision is made for a respiratory arrangement which contains a unidirectional respirator, the mouth and the nose being kept apart from the filter in order, by guiding the respiratory efforts, to equalize the flow of inspiration while the valve at a channel clears the exhalation flow and reduces condensation on the underside of the visor.

The respiratory protection mask described in document EP 0 876 830 is a very elaborate mask, therefore very expensive. In document FR-A-2 781 163, is also described a rescue hood which isolates the wearer's head from the environment and which is made of a fire-resistant material, which is impermeable to gases and which comprises a transparent visor. It is still a very elaborate hood, relatively heavy and expensive. Other protective masks are simpler, such as the disposable masks described in documents WO 98/23172 or EP 0 934 704 which protect only the nose and the mouth, and hang at the top of the head by one or more strips. These masks have the disadvantage of being unsightly.

An object of the present invention is to provide a protective mask provided with an activated carbon filter which has the shape of a hood constituting a clothing accessory which can be worn daily and in all circumstances, this mask thus being aesthetic, but at a reasonable cost.

Another object of the invention consists in providing a protective mask comprising an easily exchangeable activated carbon filter. This is to extend the life of the mask.

Another object of the invention consists in providing a protective mask allowing its user to keep all his breathing capacities during his travels.

Another object of the invention also consists in providing a protective mask whose sealing is perfect in order to obtain filtration of the optimum particles.

According to a characteristic of the invention, there is provided a respiratory protection mask having the general shape of a hood made of stretch fabric enveloping the head of an individual, the hood being provided, on the front inner face, with a stretchy mesh pocket open in its central part and into which a filter is inserted.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the filter is exchangeable.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the hood is made of stretch fabric and consists of a front piece (1) covering the upper front of the neck (in la), the throat and the underside of the chin (in 1 b) , and entirely the mouth and the nose (in 1 c), of two symmetrical lateral pieces (2 and 3) covering respectively the high sides of the neck and the cheekbones in (2a and 3 a) and the temples (in 2b and 3b) , a piece (4) located behind the first three pieces (1 to 3) and covering the upper back of the neck, the back of the head and the top of the skull. According to another characteristic of the invention, on the one hand, between the upper edge (9) of the piece (1) and the lower seam line (15) of its part (1 c) and, on the other hand, between the lines (5 and 6) of seam of the part (it) with the side pieces (2 and 3) respectively, there is provided a mesh pocket (19) in the hole of which is inserted a ring (21) in which fits the rear face of the filter (17).

According to another characteristic of the invention, the seam lines 5, 6, 7 and 8 are piped to obtain a more rigid structure.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the upper edge (12) of the part (4), between the parts (2 and 3), receives a leather yoke (22) with sharp edges stitched all around.

The characteristics of the present invention, as well as others, will appear more clearly on reading the following description of an exemplary embodiment of the invention, said description being made in relation to the accompanying drawings, among which the Fig. 1 is a front view of the hood of the invention placed on a head, FIG. 2 is a side view of the hood of the invention placed on a head, FIG. 3 is a back view of the hood of the invention placed on a head, and FIG. 4 is a partial view of the interior of the hood showing the respiratory opening thereof intended to receive a filter.

In Figs. 1 and 2, we can see all the pieces of stretch fabric making up the hood of the invention: a front piece 1 covering the top front of the neck in la, the throat and the bottom of the chin in lb, and entirely covering the mouth and the nose in the, two symmetrical lateral pieces 2 and 3 respectively covering the high sides of the neck and the cheekbones in 2a and 3a and the temples in 2b and 3b, a piece 4 located behind pieces 1 to 3, as shown Fig. 3, and covering the upper back of the neck, the back of the head and the top of the skull.

The symmetrical edges of piece 1 are connected respectively to the front edges of pieces 2 and 3 along seam lines 5 and 6. Similarly, the rear edges of pieces 2 and 3 are connected to the lateral edges of piece 4 respectively. along seam lines 7 and 8.

The upper edge 9 of part 1, above the nose, and the front lateral edges 10 and 11 of parts 2 and 3, on the sides of the eyes, and the front edge 12, above the forehead, of the part 4 define the outline of a vision window 13. Finally, in part 1, the lower part 1a is connected to the middle part 1b by a seam line 14, the middle part 1b is connected to the upper part 1c by a seam line 15, and the upper part 1 c comprises , on the outside, a hole 1 d, opposite the nose, in which is provided a part of fabric 16 in which a breathing valve 17 is inserted. Below the hole 1 d, there is a seam line 18 joining the two lower parts of the part which had to be cut partially and vertically to make the hole 1 d.

Naked from the inside, as shown in Fig. 4, on the one hand, between the upper edge 9 and the lower seam line 15 and, on the other hand, between the side seam lines 5 and 6, a mesh pocket 19 is provided in the hole 20 of which is inserted a ring 21 into which the rear face of the respiratory valve 17 is inserted. It is specified that the valve 17 is circular and has an edge having a groove which corresponds to the lateral surface of the ring 21.

In reality, with more precision, let's say that the seam lines 5, 6, 7 and 8 are piped, that is to say provided with fine rubber bands, which do not limit the extensibility of the fabric of the pieces 1 to 4, but give the hood sufficient rigidity so that it can be adapted to people with faces of different sizes.

The pocket 19 is made of an extensible mesh fabric. A nasal bar on the filter 17 allows the filter to be pressed against the nose for better sealing, the stretch fabric of the hood perfectly matching the facial features while ensuring its adhesion.

The filter 17 is an active filter having specific virtues making it possible to fight against air pollution, against particles. At the front of the seam line 12 limiting the piece 4, a leather yoke 22 has been provided with net edges overstitched all around. The yoke 22 makes it possible to avoid a tearing of the fabric which can cause a leak. In addition, it maintains the filter 17 in an optimum position for filtering the air. The upper line 9 of part 1 c is also overstitched. In operation, the slots 23 provided in the filter 17 allow the passage of the air to be filtered under better conditions for its user.

As the filter is exchangeable, we can put another one when we have exhausted its qualities, but we can also exchange it for a filter of a type different to escape different pollutions. You can also exchange the filter when the hood changes partners.

1) Respiratory protection mask having the general shape of a hood made of extensible fabric enveloping the head of an individual, but leaving him his complete vision, characterized in that said hood is provided, on the inside front face, with an extendable mesh pocket (19) open in its central part and into which a filter (17) is inserted. 2) Respiratory protection mask according to claim I, characterized in that said filter (17) is exchangeable. 3) respiratory protection mask according to claim 1, characterized in that the hood is made of stretch fabric and consists of a front piece (1) covering the upper front of the neck (in la), the throat and the underside chin (in lb), and entirely the mouth and nose (in le), two lateral, symmetrical pieces (2 and 3) covering respectively the upper sides of the neck and the cheekbones in (2a and 3 a) and the temples (in 2b and 3b), a part (4) located behind the first three parts (1 to 3) and covering the upper back of the neck, the back of the head and the top of the skull. 4) Protective respiratory mask according to claim 1, characterized ^'in that, on the one hand, between the upper edge (9) of the workpiece (1) and the lower sewing line (15) of its portion (1 c ) and, on the other hand, between the lines (5 and G) of seam of the part (1 c) with the side pieces (2 and 3) respectively, there is provided a mesh pocket (19) in the hole of which a ring (21) is inserted into which the rear face of the filter (17) is inserted. 5) respiratory protection mask according to claim 1, characterized in that the seam lines (5, 6, 7 and 8) are piped. 6) respiratory protection mask according to claim 1, characterized in that the upper edge (12) of the part (4), between the parts (2 and 3), receives titi yoke (22) in leather with sharp edges all stitched around.
