Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et une installation de purification d'hélium impur (10). Selon le procédé, l'hélium est soumis au moins aux étapes succesives de (a) réfrigération cryogénique (1) de l'hélium impur de manière à éliminer par condensation au moins une partie des impuretés principales qu'il contient et récupération d'hélium de pureté intermédiaire contenant des impuretés résiduelles, et (b) perméation (2) d'au moins une partie de l'hélium de pureté intermédiaire issu de l'étape (a) de manière à éliminer au moins une partie desdites impuretés résiduelles et récupération d'hélium ayant une pureté finale supérieure à ladite pureté intermédiaire. Ce procédé et cette installation sont applicables à la purification de l'hélium impur (10) récupéré à la sortie d'une enceinte de refroisissement (26) de fibre optique (27), préalablement à la réintroduction de l'hélium ainsi purifié dans ladite enceinte de sorte de recycler l'hélium.
