Definitions
- the invention relates to a bathtub or a shower tray made of a plastic with a reinforcement insert incorporated into the bottom thereof, such a reinforcement insert, the use of this reinforcement insert for producing a reinforced base area of a bathtub or shower tray and a method for producing a bathtub or shower tray.
- bathtubs also comprising a shower tray or the like.
- Today bathtubs are either made from an enamelled sheet or from a plastic material.
- the side of the bathtub facing the user is often made of acrylic glass or sanitary glass.
- This acrylic glass is PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate).
- a thin PMMA plastic plate is deep-drawn into the actual basic shape.
- the structure thus obtained is unstable.
- one or more layers of a plastic material are then applied to the lower side and thus to the side facing away from the user, for example by spraying on or by laying on, etc.
- the object of the present invention is to provide an improved reinforcement insert for bathtubs or shower trays which can be easily worked into the floor and is securely and firmly connected to it.
- the reinforcement insert has an essentially flat base plate which, in the incorporated state, points towards the tub.
- This plastic material binds when it reacts or hardens or adheres to the bottom area of the bathtub and thus, by the plastic protruding through the holes, represents a positive connection of the reinforcement insert to the floor when the plastic has hardened or has reacted , Filling the compartments as such ensures that the floor has a sufficient thickness and withstands the mechanical requirements.
- the base plate also ensures that the heat of reaction of the plastic material reacting in the compartment is isolated from the floor, which prevents changes in color or other changes in the bottom area of the bathtub when viewed from above, which are caused by excessive heat generation ,
- plastic material is understood to mean the reaction mixture for producing the fully reacted or hardened plastic.
- the reinforcement insert When the reinforcement insert is incorporated, it is expediently placed on a first layer made of a plastic material on the outside of the bathtub. Through the existing holes, the air or any existing bubbles can escape from below when pressing the reinforcement insert against the floor. Any cavities that form below the base plate can be filled with the plastic material, which in this state is still more or less liquid, when filling the compartments. For this purpose, this plastic material penetrates through the holes and possibly fills cavities.
- the bathtub is usually turned upside down, so that the plastic material applied and filled into the compartments can penetrate through the holes and into any cavities beneath the base plate by gravity alone.
- the amount of plastic material is expediently such dimensioned that the reinforcement insert is completely incorporated into the plastic material or is completely covered by it.
- the plastic material is expediently applied in layers, for example by spraying or other known techniques, and introduced into the compartments.
- all compartments are completely delimited by walls, with all walls preferably having the same height.
- the entire surface of the base plate is preferably divided into compartments of approximately the same size.
- the size of the compartments and the size of the hole per compartment are expediently chosen such that, on the one hand, a good connection is achieved with the floor area of the bathtub and, on the other hand, the best possible insulation of the heat of reaction occurring is ensured.
- the corresponding dimensions of the compartments and the hole can be selected in a suitable manner by a person skilled in the art, depending on the plastic used. If desired, there may also be two, three, four or more than four holes per compartment.
- the shape of the compartments which could also be called a kind of honeycomb, is arbitrary.
- the base area of these compartments is preferably square.
- Figure 1 is a sketchy side view of a bathtub, which has a reinforced floor area, and
- Figure 2 is a perspective view of a reinforcing insert according to the invention.
- the bathtub 1 shown in FIG. 1 is made of sanitary acrylic glass. On the lower side and thus on the side pointing away from the user, the bathtub 1 is reinforced in particular in the area of the floor 2. A reinforcing insert 3 is introduced into this base 2.
- This reinforcement insert can be constructed from only one such reinforcement insert 3 or from a plurality of reinforcement inserts 3 arranged next to one another but separate. In other words, the reinforcement insert as a whole can consist of several segments of reinforcement inserts 3.
- the reinforcing insert 3 is shown in particular in FIG. 2 and consists of a thin base plate 4 and a plurality of walls 5 which are arranged in such a way that the entire surface of the base plate 4 is divided into approximately equal square compartments 6. For each compartment 6 there is a hole 7 which is recessed in the base plate 4 and which is arranged approximately in the middle of the compartments 6.
- the upper part of the bathtub 1 is first produced by deep-drawing a thin plastic plate made of sanitary acrylic glass and thereby receives its basic shape.
- the basic shape thus produced has a smooth surface on the top and thus on the side facing the user.
- One or more layers of a plastic material are applied to the opposite side or surface of this basic shape.
- the basic shape produced by deep drawing is turned upside down.
- a reinforcing insert 3 or a plurality of reinforcing inserts 3 are placed with their lower side 8 of the base plate 4 on the floor 2 and pressed onto the plastic material which has not yet reacted.
- further plastic material is injected into the compartments 6 until the reinforcing insert (n ) 3 is (are) completely embedded in the plastic material.
- a methyl methacrylate resin system is used as the plastic material, which is processed with a 2-component airless spraying system. It is even possible to dispense with the use of glass fiber rovings, which are used in other known methods for applying plastic material.
- the plastic material fills the holes 7 and also the compartments 6.
- the reinforcement insert (s) 3 also consist of sanitary acrylic glass. Due to the chemical relationship of the plastic materials used for the reinforcement insert 3 and the bathtub 1, there is a permanent, firm bond. Because of this, it is easily possible to automate the manufacturing process.
- the walls 5 of the reinforcing insert 3 all have the same height and completely surround the compartments 6, so that compartments 6 which are completely separate from one another are present.
