Abstract

Compounds of general formula (I), in which: X represents a bond, O, S, SO or SO2; and R1 represents a (1-10C)alkyl, (2-10C)alkenyl, (2-10C)alkynyl, (4-10C)alkadienyl, carboxamido(1-8C)alkyl or aminocarbonyl(1-8C)alkyl group which is unsubstituted or substituted by (3-10C)cycloalkyl or by one or two unsubstituted or substituted aromatic groups, or an ester or amide thereof, or a salt thereof are inhibitors of glutamate racemase and are useful as antibiotics.
