Abstract

A process for purifying water contaminated with crude oil. The process comprises: (a) feeding water contaminated with crude oil into a flexible storage tank; (b) biodegrading at least a portion of the crude oil contaminant; and (c) withdrawing from the flexible storage tank a water stream which is reduced in crude oil contaminant.
