Abstract

La présente invention concerne, dans un réseau d'hôtes fonctionnant en collaboration (80, 82, 84, 86, 88), un procédé et un système de réattribtuion automatique d'éléments de logiciel (110, 112) d'un hôte défaillant, à des hôtes de surveillance (82, 86) ou de sauvegarde fonctionnant en collaboration. Dans un mode de réalisation préféré de l'invention, un dépôt d'informations central (∫i⊃Central Information Repository∫/i⊃ / CIR) tel qu'un serveur LDAP, effectue le suivi des éléments de logiciel (110, 112) fonctionnant sur les hôtes du réseau (80, 82, 84, 86, 88) et un programme de partenariat de surveillance (∫i⊃Monitoring Partnership Program∫/i⊃ / MPP) permet à certains hôtes (80, 82, 84, 86, 88) d'effectuer le suivi de l'activité d'autres hôtes (80, 82, 84, 86, 88). A la défaillance d'un hôte (84) faisant l'objet de la surveillance, un hôte de surveillance (82, 86) détecte la défaillance et informe les autres hôtes de surveillance (82, 86) ou, le cas échéant, les autres hôtes de sauvegarde, de la défaillance de l'hôte (84) faisant l'objet de la surveillance. Les hôtes de surveillance (82, 86) et/ou les hôtes de sauvegarde interrogent le CIR afin qu'il lui fournisse l'identité des éléments de logiciel (110, 112) fonctionnant sur l'hôte défaillant (84) avant la défaillance, et choisissent lequel de ces éléments (110, 112) chacun d'entre eux va devoir mettre en route. Les hôtes de surveillance (82, 86) et/ou les hôtes de sauvegarde prennent alors en charge et mettent en route les éléments défaillants (110, 112). Lors du rétablissement, l'hôte (84) faisant l'objet de la surveillance interroge le CIR et obtient une liste de ses éléments de logiciel, informe le CIR et les hôtes de surveillance ou de sauvegarde (82, 86) qu'il prend le relais, et met en route ses éléments (110, 112), alors que les hôtes de surveillance et/ou de sauvegarde (82, 86) interrompent les éléments (110, 112) qu'ils faisaient fonctionner temporairement.
