Abstract

A novel human G protein-coupled receptor (GPcR) protein, IGPcR11, is identified and characterized. IGPcR11-encoding nucleotides, IGPcR11 proteins and fusion proteins, antibodies to the receptor, host cell expression systems, animal models in which the IGPcR11 gene is mutated, recombinant knock-out animals that do not express IGPcR11 and transgenic animals that express an IGPcR11 transgenes are encompassed by the invention, as are compounds that modulate gene expression or receptor activity of IGPcR11 and their use for drug screening, and diagnosis or treatment of diseases, particularly visual dysfunctions associated with signal processing in the occipital lobe of the brain.
