Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for cashless payment in which a customer transfers a monetary amount to a business partner via a clearing house and to devices for carrying out the method.
  • Cashless payment transactions have been known for a long time and can be carried out in different ways, for example by means of a credit card, whereby again several types of processing are possible:
  • the first type is supported electronically: the card is read into a device and, with the support of communication devices, it is checked directly in a data processing center whether it is valid. The identity of the cardholder is not checked. For the cardholder, a receipt with details of the payment is issued (printed), the supplier receives a second receipt on which the cardholder confirms the payment with a signature. The payee (the supplier) receives the paid amount after deduction of the processing commission from the card company at periodic intervals.
  • the second type is completely manual: an imprint of the card is made, the imprint is filled in with the amount (in certain cases a phone call is made to the card company to confirm the validity of the card), the customer signs the receipt and he confirms the payment. A copy of the receipt will be given to the customer as a payment confirmation. The identity of the customer is not checked. The seller collects the signed receipts and periodically passes them on to the card company, which transfers a summary amount of the submitted receipts.
  • Another type is used in Internet shops: the card number is made known to a retailer on the Internet and only via the electronic connection is a release made to charge the card; the dealer on the Internet presents the summary of the debits to the card company and the card company debits the card holder. In principle, it is also not possible to verify the identity of the customer in this course of business. Other variants are as follows:
  • the cardholder receives a summary of the accepted payments at regular intervals (usually monthly); the card company expects the cardholder to transfer the total amount shown or a specific account of the customer will be debited with the amount in a direct debit procedure.
  • Another option is payment with an ATM card, which is cashless and largely automatic: the card is read into a device and a direct connection to a central data processing system is used to check whether it is valid. Afterwards the customer is obliged to enter a PIN. If the PIN entry is correct, the corresponding booking records are created automatically. The customer's authorization to use the card is only confirmed by entering the correct PIN.
  • the payment systems used today can be improved.
  • the modern technology is used in the systems, but the existing solutions represent those processing paths and procedures that have arisen through years of development of our "banking culture".
  • the first processing on the business side is fast, but the subsequent billing is slow and batch-oriented (for example, billing takes place only at periodic intervals).
  • the devices and systems used for this are complex and the plastic cards generally used can be stolen or imitated.
  • the customer's identity is simply verified by means of a signature or / and a card number. When paying anonymously with cash, it cannot be determined whether the cash owner can actually dispose of the available amount or not.
  • the purpose of the invention is to provide a method which does not have the disadvantages mentioned, in which the customer identification is clear and the anonymity of the customer is largely retained, in which the amount individually available to the customer is actually always available to him and in which, at least in one embodiment, processing can take place immediately (in “real time”) and safely, both on the customer's side and on the part of the dealer.
  • these goals are achieved in that the customer uses a personalized, non-anonymous telecommunication device to inform the settlement agent of his PIN, the location number identifying the business partner and the amount to be transferred, and then the settlement agent uses the identification of the telecommunication device transmitted when the connection is established and the PIN the the customer's right to the transaction is checked and notifies the business partner identified by the location number or his end device, the amount, possibly reduced by a commission, and requests his approval of the transaction and, upon receipt of his approval, carries out the transaction and this to the customer and the business partner telling.
  • the devices for carrying out the method include: a customer's personalized telecommunication device, a customer database connected to telecommunication devices at the billing point, the memories for identifying the personalized telecommunication device, for at least one associated PIN, for at least one associated account and / or an associated account Has an account connection and for an amount, furthermore a business partner database which may be different from the customer database, which has memories for the location number a, the identification of the business partner and for at least one associated account and / or an associated account connection, with a data processing system which transmits the transmitted identifier of the personalized one Comparing the telecommunication device and the transmitted PIN with the entries in the database and, depending on this, by comparing the transmitted location number with the entries determines the business partner in the business partner database and notifies him of the amount to be transmitted using the telecommunications device, if necessary to his end device, and, after receiving the business partner's consent, debits the customer's account, the business partner's account, possibly reduced by a commission, recognizes and notifies both of the

If there is no participation agreement (no authorization defined or the authorization is invalid), the process is interrupted and a corresponding message is sent to the communication device.
