Abstract

The invention relates to a propulsion system for ships, especially navy ships, comprising at least one rudder propeller drive (1). Said rudder propeller drive consists of a rotatable azimuth module with an energy transmission device and a propulsion module. Said propulsion module is disposed on the azimuth module in a gondola-type of manner and is provided with an electric drive for one or two propellers. The rudder propeller drive (1) is further characterized by being mounted flexibly, especially in a shock-proof manner, by means of shock absorbers (19) and multilayer membranes (20).
