Definitions
- the object of the invention is to remove the above problem and provide an alternative to painkilling tablets and the like.
- This object is solved by briefs that include a front and a rear pocket for the exchangeable occupation by heat delivering plastic bags filled with a solution of sodium acetate tetrahydrate and an initializing device for the crystallizing of this, that generates heat.
- the plastic bags consist of two against each other along the edges welded plastic layers
- the plastic layers may further advantageously be united with weld spot welds or line-like welds but with retained fluid communication between all or groups of the resulting part spaces, allowing crystallizing in the entire space or parts thereof.
- the bags are by a more frequent arrangement of the welds made thinner at for instance the edges in order to achieve a more discreet appearance at the same time as an improved flexibility and pliability is achieved also when the sodium acetate trihydrate has been transformed into crystallin form.
- the sodium acetate trihydrate in the bags can by being heated to just below the boiling point (seethed) for water be brought into fluid form. This fluid form is then stable until crystallization is initialized by a little snap device of metal inclosed in the bag together with the sodium acetate trihydrate. At the crystallization heat is released and the temperature rise to about 50°C, whereafter the heat in particular is released by radiation to the body with efficient alleviation of the pain as result. Heat may be emitted for a couple of hours and one can then for instance change to other loaded bags.
- two or several, part volumes may be initiated separately for heat generation, alternatively jointly depending on the required amount of heat.
- the two plastic layers are connected by means of ring-shaped welds with an opening in the middle so that "airing" can take place, that is the skin can emit moisture therethrough so that a more pleasant feeling can be obtained.
- insulation and/or heat reflecting layers are arranged in order to reduce the heat losses to the surrounding, which in turn increase the available time of use. Her it can be noted that not only heat from the bag but also body heat is reflected, which further increase the time of use for each bag.
- the briefs according to the invention is of fabric and advantageously the bags have the same shape for front and rear side to enable use on optional location, as well as eliminating the risk of mix up.
- a softening agent may be added to the salt making this softer so that not one continuous crystal result but instead several small ones. It is easy to believe that the invention is impossible since one thinks of hot water bottles and the likes. These however has as object to deliver comparatively large amounts of heat, while at the invention only a comparatively small increase in temperature is required in order to obtain the pain alleviation effect of the heat. Surprisingly enough comparatively small amounts of heat are required to obtain pain alleviation that is considerable for a time. However improbable the invention is thus efficient.
- the initiating device for the heating/crystallization is anchored in a particular place in the bag so that it is always easy to find and use.
- This may for instance be achieved by the small metal panel being provided with an ear that grips around a spot weld extending therethrough.
- the briefs shown in the drawing which briefs in their entirety has been denoted 1 differ from other briefs by being provided with a pocket 2 on the front side and a pocket 3 on the rear side. These pockets are intended for the insertion of heat generators that are constimted of flat bags 4 and 5 respectively or containers containing sodium acetate trihydrate in solution.
- Sodium acetate trihydrate is a crystallin substance that melts at about 50°C. By heating (in for instance seething water) the flat bags above the melting temperature of the sodium acetate trihydrate this is transformed from its crystallin form to fluid form that then remain even if the temperature is lowered. The fluid phase is then stable until crystallization is initiated with a special initiating device in the shape of a piece of sheet metal.
- the pockets with the heat generators larger or smaller and in the extreme case one can even consider that they extend over almost the entire area of the briefs so that the heat generating part constitutes heat generating briefs in itself or parts thereof that can be snapped together with other parts.
- through holes or channels may be arranged.
- the heat generators can be inserted into the corresponding pockets while they are still warm after the melting of the salt. Only when the temperature due to the heat emission has fallen heating is then initiated when a renewed heat-emission is desired by means of the crystallization. This allows an additional prolonged time of warmth, or respectively the possibility of two heating opportunities without exchanges.
