- the manufacturing process of said element having a surface with a bending radius variable in continuity comprises at least one phase of pressing of the sheet-metal with a hydraulic press and a mould in three parts: a die, a punch and a sheet press.
- the advantages obtained by means of such a product mainly consist in that the used of a linking element with the variable radius surface allows the head-to-head connection of the single elements; it allows to maintain the thickness of the cylindrical plating and of the truncated cone feedbox, also for the connecting element; it allows to optimize the useful cubing of the tanker with equal encumbrance volume; and, finally, it allows to realize a strong and light hull with elements easy to connect and with a shape that can resist to the same stresses in all parts of the structure, thus eliminating areas with differentiated thickness.

- the two discharge feedboxes 2 comprise an inner half-cone 2a and an outer half-cone 2b, linked by a head-to-head welding. These two half-cones are in turn advantageously consisting of two quarter-cones 2a' 5 2a" and 2b', 2b", also joined by head- to-head welding, whereby said quarter-cones are obtained by folding sheet-metals preferably of a thickness of 4.5 mm.
- the quarter-cones 2a' and 2a" comprise two surfaces with a respectively conical and mixed bending, separated by a radius change line 5, and which allow the connection with the half- cone 2b and with the cylindrical body 1 of the tanker.

- the process for the manufacturing of the tanker, especially of the connection covers 3, mainly comprises the following working phases, according to the flow scheme of figure 9:
- - SF pressing the shape of the sheet, by means of a hydraulic press of 750 t - 1000 t, and with a mould in three parts: a die, a punch and a sheet press, for obtaining segments 3 a and 3b;
- - Cl trimming control and passing to following phase R in case a trimming is required, or otherwise to phase C2;
- - R trimming by cutting with high definition laser/plasma in a three axis robotized system;
- - C2 control of the single segments on a tridimensional dima, and - with positive results - passing to the following phase SS or otherwise return to the phase SR;
- - C3 a checking in tridimensional dima of the cover 3 and - with positive results - passing to the following phase SC or otherwise return to phase PC;
