Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé pour remplacer les électrodes (3) dans un contenant métallique (1) fonctionnant électriquement, notamment un four à arc. Ce procédé consiste à remplacer une unité constituée d'électrodes de contact placées sur une plaque de base (10) et comportant des connexions électriques, des raccords pour réfrigérants et thermocouples, par une nouvelle unité. Selon l'invention, l'unité usée (3), après avoir été détachée du fond (1a) du contenant est descendue puis évacuée sur un chariot positionné (5) ou sur un adaptateur servant au remplacement. Ensuite, la nouvelle unité (3) amenée sur le chariot (5) ou sur l'adaptateur est introduite par le bas dans le fond (1a) du contenant, en étant centrée automatiquement, pour y être ensuite fixée.
