As shown in Figure 7, this embodiment of the invention provides for removing the factory apparatus disposed in the lower half of the bore underneath the surface supporting the patient. In its place, the present invention, according to one embodiment, provides a mechanism 72 to rotate and cant a member 74 providing a support surface for the patient.

Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif servant à supporter le corps d'un patient dans un scanner à résonance magnétique, ce dispositif de support pouvant également effectuer une rotation autour de son axe longitudinal et s'incliner autour d'un point situé sur cet axe longitudinal. Elle concerne également un procédé et un dispositif servant à supporter la tête et la nuque du patient au moyen d'un support de tête chirurgical. Dans un autre mode de réalisation de l'invention, un procédé et un dispositif servent à fixer un premier et un deuxième étrier à un élément supportant le patient. Dans encore un autre mode de réalisation, l'invention concerne deux ou plusieurs éléments différents servant à supporter le corps du patient pendant un examen médical effectué en association avec un scanner à résonance magnétique, chacun de ces éléments étant conçus pour être insérés de façon détachable dans un orifice du scanner à résonance magnétique et chacun de ces éléments exerçant une fonction de support différente. On sélectionne un de ces différents éléments afin de l'utiliser dans une intervention médicale, on place le corps du patient sur l'élément sélectionné et on accouple cet élément au scanner, de façon à placer cet élément au moins partiellement dans un orifice du scanner.
