- Bolting the fastener assembly 1 into a vehicle or similar panel will sandwich the top flange 26 and the bottom flange 13 to add strength to the overall assembly.

Once this preload is applied to the elastomer brake 12, a drag force is applied to the rotation of the hoop-shaped retaining member 2.
- the tabs 17, 18 function to prevent further rotation or movement of the hoop-shaped retaining member 2. Without this unique feature of the present invention, the hoop-shaped retaining member 2 would be loose in the bezel 3 after installation, which would add to fatigue stress, and cause premature fracture of the fastener assembly 1.
