Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et un système d'affichage d'un volume d'une image d'un corps, tel que le corps d'un patient subissant une intervention chirurgicale. Ce système comprend une mémoire de stockage du volume de l'image, un écran d'affichage de ce volume, un pointeur de sélection de portions du volume à afficher par rapport au corps, un mécanisme de détermination de la position et de l'orientation du pointeur, ainsi qu'un processeur de commande globale. Le volume de l'image est enregistré avec le corps. Une portion, telle qu'une tranche, du volume de l'image est définie par un point de vue, lequel est à son tour défini par le positionnement et l'orientation du pointeur par rapport au corps. Par exemple, le point de vue peut être défini par un point cible du corps et par l'orientation du pointeur. L'extrémité du pointeur est pointée sur le point cible ou est placée en contact avec ce point cible, et le pointeur est pivoté. Une tranche du volume de l'image est alors affichée en fonction de ce point de vue. L'alignement de ce volume avec le corps est facilité par l'utilisation du pointeur servant à échantillonner des coordonnées de points sur la surface du corps. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, un pointeur correctement équipé est utilisé pour échantillonner les coordonnées de points dans le corps, par exemple par écholocalisation.
