Definitions

  • the mask does not restrain or distort the conversation of the patient.
  • the tube in the oxygen mask is provided with a large number of outlet holes and is arranged at a distance within and along a greater part of the edge of the mask. This secures an even oxygen flow.
  • the filter material may, for example, be a paper filter material. Such a material is almost odourless and further stops odours from the environment, such as smoke.
  • a preferred design of the mask is a substantially hemispheric form.
  • Fig. 1 illustrates in a side view a first embodiment of an oxygen mask according to the present invention in usage mode
  • Fig. 2 illustrates in an inside view the oxygen mask of fig. 1,
  • Fig. 3 illustrates in an inside view a second embodiment of an oxygen mask according to the present invention
  • Fig. 4 illustrates in an inside view a third embodiment of an oxygen mask according to the present invention.
  • an oxygen mask 1 is formed of a paper filter material 2, which is substantially designed as a hemisphere and which comprises fixing means 3 for fixing over the nose and mouth portion of the patient, for example by means of rubber bands 3 attached to the sides 4 of the mask 1, which rubber bands are adjustably connected in the neck of the patient (not shown) .
  • Oxygen is supplied to the mask by means of a supply tube 5, which branches off into two outlet tubes 6.
  • the branching preferably occurs inside a branching box 7 and the branched outlet tubes 6 run through two holes 9 in the lower edge of the mask 1 into the mask 1.
  • the two branched outlet tubes 6 form a common loop without any interruption, which is arranged a small distance from, on the inside, and along the edge of the mask 1. See fig. 2.
  • the outlet tube 6 is provided with outlet holes 8 arranged along the outlet tube 6 and preferably directed towards the centre of the mask 1. An advantageous flow of oxygen is achieved by providing the outlet tube 6 with a large number of outlet holes 8.
  • a second embodiment of the present invention is illustrated where the two branched outlet tubes 6 run along the edge of the mask 1, but not all the way up so that they meet, but forms a U-configuration.
  • a third embodiment is illustrated where the supply tube 5 changes into being an outlet tube 6, without branches, approximately where the tube runs through a hole 9 into the mask 1.
  • the outlet tube 6 is arranged along the majority of the edge of the mask 1, forming a hook configuration.
  • this mask may also be used for other gases, for example laughing-gas.
