  • the protective coating is applied to new or cleaned vinyl siding by a consumer or professional service.
  • the protective coating preferably is formulated such that it is not washed off of the vinyl siding by rain or tap water.

  • the purpose of the polymeric solution after application of a thin film to a surface is primarily to be a sacrificial surface. That is, once coated onto a precleaned surface such as vinyl or plastic, painted surfaces as well as unpainted surfaces such as metal or masonry, foreign matter such as difficult to remove road film, algae and mold, etc. , deposit onto the thin polymer coating instead of the underlying surface itself. Since the coating is alkaline strippable the coating is removed with an appropriate base taking the built up soil with it leaving a clean surface. In some cases it is also possible to use this polymeric solution containing an excess of volatile amine base in order to strip off the previously applied soiled coating and depositing a new coating simultaneously.

  • R,, R 2 and R 3 are organic acrylic esters or methacrylic esters to give varying hardness and flexibility. In general, the smaller the R group the harder the dried film and the larger and more branched chains give more flexibility.

Abstract

Cette invention se rapporte à un revêtement détachable à l'aide d'un composé alcalin, qui vise à protéger des substrats exposés à des conditions ambiantes, telles que peintures, plastiques, caoutchoucs et métaux. Ce revêtement est constitué par une solution de polymère acrylique qui ne se dégrade pas sous l'action des conditions atmosphériques, mais qui est chimiquement détachable à l'aide d'une solution aqueuse alcaline, telle qu'une solution nettoyante de pH élevé. Ce revêtement peut être appliqué sur des zones étendues au moyen d'un tuyau d'arrosage de jardin. Le revêtement sèche pour former un mince film protecteur destiné à durer une à deux années et à ajouter du brillant aux surfaces en vinyle ou recouvertes d'une peinture, ternies par l'action des conditions atmosphériques. Ce film protecteur peut réduire au minimum l'oxydation du vinyle ou de la peinture par encapsulation du TiO2 exposé, lequel agit comme filtre anti-ultraviolet. Ce film peut également ajouter une profondeur de couleur à ces surfaces et/ou réduire au minimum la croissance des salissures biologiques telles que moisissures et algues.
