Abstract

A friction-reducing drill pipe component (10) for forming part of a drill string comprises a mandrel (15) comprising a tubular body (16) having first and second ends for connection to adjacent components of a drill string, and a stop (18) extending radially from the body. A sleeve (20) is rotatably mounted on the body (16) and a bearing arrangement is provided between the sleeve and the body. At least one bearing set (26) is provided between the sleeve (20) and the stop (18) to provide axial as well as radial support for the sleeve.
