Abstract

The invention relates to a cigarette filter (1) providing a first inner paper (2), a second intermediate paper (3) and a third outer paper (4), said first (2) and second (3) papers having such a width that, when wound, their edge do not overlap, and the third paper (4) having such a width that, when wound, its edges overlap; a filtering element (5) being provided on the first inner paper (2), in correspondence of one of the two filter ends. Thus a tube is realised, having a large empty portion, and a suitable consistency to withstand to the compression, with a built in filtering element comprised of a simple, mixed, cavity, etc. filter.

Description

CIGARETTE FILTER

The present invention relates to a cigarette filter, and particularly for "extended recess" cigarettes. More specifically, the invention concerns a filter of the kind known as "recess", which has been improved with respect to those already known, to be usable for manufacturing cigarettes of the Papiros kind.

Regular "recess" filters provide a completely empty portion, usually not exceeding 6 mm, and one or more filtering elements, and are used since many times for the manufacturing of standard cigarettes having the filter.

Instead, the extended recess filter is destined to the manufacturing of Papiros king cigarettes with filter. In fact, said cigarette, that is widely used, without the filter, in the former U.S.S.R. countries, provides a portion of the paper that is wound when empty bigger than the portion filled in with tobacco and the manufacturing of said cigarettes occurs on machines that nothing have to do with those employed to manufacture the conventional cigarettes.

Till now, it has not been possible to realise a cigarette with filter identified as Papiros kind cigarette, also due to the lacking of a filtering element having its empty portion bigger than the filtering portion, with a suitable consistency in order to withstand to the foreseen compression.

In fact, due to technological difficulties, it has not been possible to solve the technical problems relevant to the winding of the paper around the filtering element, maintaining empty the most portion of the filter.

Particularly, the problems concern the capability of obtaining a sufficiently resistant structure.

In view of the above, the Applicant has realised a new filter of the "extended recess" kind able to solve the above mentioned problems. It is therefore specific object of the present invention a cigarette filter providing a first inner paper, a second intermediate paper and a third outer paper, said first and second papers having such a width that, when wound, their edge do not overlap, and the third paper having such a width that, when wound, its edges overlap; on the first inner paper, in correspondence of one of the two filter ends, a filtering element being provided.

According to the invention, it is possible to provide further intermediate papers between said first and third papers. Preferably, according to the invention, said first paper is glued on said second paper, said second paper is glued on said third paper, and said third paper is glued by overlapping of its edges.

Still according to the invention, said filtering element is glued on said first paper.

Always according to the invention, said filtering element can be comprised of a simple, mixed, cavity, etc. filter.

Furthermore, said papers can be comprised of any kind of suitable material. The present invention will be now described, for illustrative but not limitative purposes, according to its preferred embodiments, with particular reference to the figures of the enclosed drawings, wherein: figure 1 is a lateral view of the filter according to the invention; figure 2 is a section view taken along line ll-ll of figure 1 ; and figure 3 is a section view taken along line Ill-Ill of figure 1.

Referring to the figures of the enclosed drawings, it is shown a filter 1 according to the invention comprised of a first inner paper 2, an intermediate paper 3 and an outer paper 4.

The outer paper 4 will be larger than the intermediate paper 3, which will be larger than the inner paper 2.

As it can be clearly seen from figure 3, the edges of the inner paper 2 and of the intermediate paper 3 do not overlap, while the edges of the outer paper 4 overlap.

The three papers 2, 3 and 4 can be realised with any kind of suitable material.

Paper 2 is glued at the bottom of the paper 3, which is glued at the bottom at the paper 4. The latter is instead glued by overlapping of its outer edges.

The filtering element 5 is provided in front with respect to the filter 1 according to the invention, said filtering element 5 being of any kind, without limiting in any way the scope of the invention, and being provided on the inner paper 2 and glued to the same.

In this way a filter 1 is created, providing a very long empty portion and a portion comprised of the filtering element 5. The present invention has been described for illustrative but not limitative purposes, according to its preferred embodiments, but it is to be understood that modifications and/or changes can be introduced by those skilled in the art without departing from the relevant scope as defined in the enclosed claims.

Claims

1. Cigarette filter characterised in that it provides a first inner paper, a second intermediate paper and a third outer paper, said first and second papers having such a width that, when wound, their edge do not overlap, and the third paper having such a width that, when wound, its edges overlap; on the first inner paper, in correspondence of one of the two filter ends, a filtering element being provided.

2. Cigarette filter according to claim 1 , characterised in that further intermediate papers are provided between said first and third papers.

3. Cigarette filter according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that said first paper is glued on said second paper, said second paper is glued on said third paper, and said third paper is glued by overlapping of its edges.

4. Cigarette filter according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that said filtering element is glued on said first paper.

5. Cigarette filter according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that said filtering element is comprised of a simple, mixed, cavity, etc. filter.

6. Cigarette filter according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that, said papers are comprised of any kind of suitable material.

7. Cigarette filter according to any one of the preceding claims, substantially as illustrated and described.
