Abstract

A guideway transfer switch (10) for guiding vehicles between fixed guide tracks (22, 24, 26) includes a plurality of guide tracks (28, 30) extending in a first direction secured to transfer drives for moving said tracks in a substantially transverse direction with respect to the first direction of the guide tracks. A locking mechanism (56) located on the guide tracks secures the switch in position. A linear bearing (36) aids the movement of the switch between positions. Limit switches (38, 40, 42, 44, 62) detect the movement of the beams and the locking mechanism.
