Abstract

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von aromatischen Brommethylbiphenyl-Verbindungen der Formel (II), in der R eine Carbonsäuregruppe, eine Cyangruppe, eine Carbonsäureamidgruppe, eine Carbonsäureestergruppe oder eine Tetrazolylgruppe, die substituiert sein kann, bedeutet, umfassend die Umsetzung der entsprechenden Methylbiphenyl-Verbindung mit Bromwasserstoff und Wasserstoffperoxid in Gegenwart eines Radikalstarters und/oder Licht. Das Verfahren liefert die Brommethylbiphenyl-Verbindungen der Formel (II) mit hoher Ausbeute und Selektivität, führt im großtechnischen Maßstab zu den Produkten und zeichnet sich durch eine hervorragende Umweltverträglichkeit aus.
