Abstract

Nucleic acid molecules for directing and modulating gene expression in transformed cells are disclosed. The molecules comprise 5' and 3' regulatory sequences isolated from genomic clones having homology in their coding regions with maize genes encoding Type I and Type IIB starch branching enzymes. Chimeric genes comprising these expression controlling nucleic acid molecules, and cells transformed with such chimeric genes, are also disclosed.
