Abstract

A method of obtaining a blood-cell fraction enriched for antigen presenting cells is disclosed. The method includes treating a patient with an agent effective to mobilize stem cells, obtaining a blood sample from a patient, subjecting it to density centrifugation over a medium with a defined density, harvesting the cell fractions enriched in precursor antigen-presenting cells, and culturing the harvested cells under conditions effective to induce cells having the morphology, phenotype, and function of dendritic cells. A method of using such antigen presenting cell for in vivo therapy and pharmaceutical compositions comprising such antigen presenting cells are also disclosed.
