Le récipient est fait d'un matériau en feuilles à plis multiples traité par thermoformage pour donner un récipient à paroi tronconique et à fond bombé résistant. Avant de thermoformer le récipient dans la feuille, celle-ci est réchauffée à l'aide de coussins ovales sur plusieurs plaques disposées de manière à favoriser le réglage de la température de la feuille. On utilise pour le processus de thermoscellement un bouchon qui entre en contact avec la feuille et la positionne à l'intérieur d'une matrice. Une feuille formant les couvercles est thermoscellée à la feuille des récipients sur les récipients thermoformés de manière à produire une paire de joints-cordons annulaires concentriques thermoscellés. L'emballage se complète en découpant les feuilles thermoscellés à la périphérie des récipients par un ensemble matrice-poinçon qui donne une surface nette aux bords non coupants.
