Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for gas supply in sleep apnea with a respiratory gas source, which leads to at least one breathing opening of a patient via a flow guide, the flow guide being connected to a gas humidifier in order to dispense a liquid stored in a liquid reservoir in partial quantities to the breathing gas to be supplied .
  • Various devices are already known to prevent the trachea from sagging during sleep in apnea patients, which leads to unconscious shortness of breath.
  • face masks are known that are placed on the nose area of the patient. The patient is supplied with small amounts of breathing air via this face mask and a blower connected to the face mask via an air hose. This creates an overpressure in the patient's nose area, which causes the patient's trachea to be forced open and, as a result, an unconscious shortness of breath to be prevented.
  • the patient's mucous membranes can dry out, which can lead to pain or nosebleeds.
  • devices have been created in which humidifiers are arranged in front of the air lines leading to the face mask.
  • a disadvantage of these previously known devices is that the humidifier must always be used, otherwise the breathing gas line in the device is interrupted.
  • the humidifier is not always essential. If the air humidity is already high, for example in summer, additional humidification of the breathing air is perceived as disruptive by many patients. In addition, the humidifier places high demands on hygiene, which require considerable additional effort when the humidifier is used continuously. • the flow guidance of the device has at least two preselectable flow paths, of which a first flow path leads to the patient's breathing opening bypassing the gas humidifier and of which a second flow path leads to the patient's breathing opening via a mixing point, which mixing point communicates with the gas humidifier.

  • the two flow paths can be arranged in different ways.
  • two separate gas lines can originate from the respiratory gas source, the first of which is led directly to a respiratory gas outlet and the second of which is connected to the gas humidifier.
