Further, tests have been performed successfully demonstrating that an external light source can be reliable detected, even though there is a very strong internal light source which is temporarily blocked by a shutter or otherwise.

Abstract

Cette invention se rapporte à un dispositif d'éclairage, notamment à un phare d'automobile, comportant un organe d'éclairage (27) conçu pour produire un faisceau lumineux (7) que le dispositif d'éclairage émet en réponse à un signal de commande délivré par un capteur photosensible (23) en cours de fonctionnement. Ledit dispositif d'éclairage comporte un organe (28) conçu pour réguler de manière répétée et intermittente l'intensité de la lumière (4) émise par ce dispositif d'éclairage (27) sans que l'oeil humain puisse déceler aucune modification. Un organe de commande est relié au capteur (23) de manière que le signal de commande délivré par le capteur (23) au cours d'une période de faible intensité du dispositif d'éclairage (27) est traité dans le but de faire varier le diagramme d'éclairage du faisceau lumineux (7). Il est ainsi possible d'effectuer une mesure précise de la lumière ambiante (11), qui n'est pas perturbée par l'organe d'éclairage (27) propre du dispositif d'éclairage, par exemple de manière à évaluer la lumière des phares d'autres véhicules. En conséquence, il est possible de régler automatiquement le diagramme d'éclairage et l'intensité d'éclairage, afin de ne pas éblouir les véhicules venant en sens inverse, ce qui permet d'obtenir une intensité lumineuse qui est généralement supérieure à celle des feux de croisement classiques. L'invention se rapporte tout particulièrement à un dispositif d'éclairage qui est constitué de phares orientables et de détecteurs de phares orientables.
