Abstract

Cette invention concerne une électrode à auto-cuisson pouvant être utilisée dans un four à arc électrique, laquelle comprend boîtier allongé, conducteur d'électricité et à extrémité ouverte qui est disposé verticalement dans le four. Un noyau central fait d'un matériau thermoconducteur est disposé dans le boîtier tout en étant espacé de celui-ci. Un système de cadre interne permet de fixer le noyau central à la surface interne du boîtier, ceci de manière à maintenir ledit noyau au centre du boîtier et à éviter l'extrusion du noyau vers le bas. Le noyau central est entouré d'une pâte d'électrode carbonée qui va se solidifier sous forme d'une électrode solide lors du chauffage et se coller audit noyau central. Cette électrode à auto-cuisson permet de produire du métal à base de silicium dans un four de type Söderberg sans qu'il soit nécessaire de modifier le système de glissage habituel ni d'en ajouter un autre. L'électrode décrite dans cette invention permet en utilisant ce même four de produire du FeSi ayant n'importe quelle qualité ainsi que des métaux à base de Si, ceci sans temps d'improductivité lors de la transition progressive d'un produit à l'autre, et chaque fois à des coûts de production minime en ce qui concerne l'électrode.
