By adjusting the gas pressure of the introduced gaseous nitrogen the liquid level on the side of the discharge can be pushed upward in these communicating vessels to dispense measured portions or a continuous flow of liquid nitrogen.

This pressure can be adjusted very simply by a commercially available control valve. Abstract

Cet appareil de distribution d'azote liquide comprend un échangeur de chaleur présentant deux espaces à travers lesquels des milieux respectifs peuvent circuler, ces deux espaces présentant chacun dispositif d'alimentation et un dispositif d'évacuation et étant séparés l'un de l'autre par une cloison thermoconductrice. Dans le premier espace, on fait entrer via le dispositif d'alimentation un milieu de refroidissement liquide dont la température est inférieure à la température de condensation de l'azote (environ -192°C), le milieu de refroidissement évaporé pouvant quitter ce premier espace, et dans le second espace, on introduit de l'azote gazeux qui peut s'y condenser de façon que de l'azote liquide quitte ce second espace via le dispositif d'évacuation.
