Abstract

L'invention porte sur un procédé de fabrication d'un article de métal coulé et forgé (20) comportant les étapes suivantes: (a) préparer une préforme extensible de la pièce à couler, (b) plonger ledit motif dans une pâte de silice fondue et d'un liant pour former un revêtement humide, (c) projeter des grains de carbure de silicium sur le susdit revêtement; (d) faire sécher le susdit revêtement, (e) répéter les étapes (b), (c) et (d) jusqu'à ce que la coquille (37) ait atteint l'épaisseur voulue, (f) couler l'article de métal (20) dans la susdite coquille (37) pour obtenir une ébauche, et (g) extruder (14) et/ou forger à matrice fermée (15) l'ébauche, pour obtenir les propriétés mécaniques et la microstructure désirées. L'alliage est un alliage métallique à base de cobalt dont la teneur en carbone est supérieure à 0,2 % en poids. La pièce forgée finale est une prothèse de la hanche. L'invention porte également sur un composé à matrice métallique comportant une distribution uniforme des particules de céramique (31) à l'intérieur de la matrice métallique (32) fait d'un métal dont le point de fusion dépasse 1000 °C et la densité d'au moins 4. Les particules (31) sont en oxyde d'aluminium ou en zircon. Le métal (32) est de l'acier inox.
