Abstract
The subject of the invention is a method for treatment of contaminated loose and bulk substances, in particular sand and soil as well as huge areas contaminated with chain hydrocarbons, in particular crude oil, crude oil derivatives, heavy oils and fats. The method as per the invention consists in employment of adsorbent in form of granulated polymer of granulation between 2 and 15 mm, the sum of surface of which is 20-40 times bigger than the surface of treated substances, and the adsorbent carrier is a solution of activating agent and water mixed in the proportion of 0,5 - 10 g of activating agent per 1 cubic meter of water.
Description
Method for purification of loose and bulk material
The subject of the invention is method for treatment of loose and bulk substances, in particular sand and soil as well as huge areas contaminated with chain hydrocar¬ bons, in particular crude oil, crude oil derivatives, heavy oils and fats.
Based on the PCT/EP92/00468 application we know the method for soil recla¬ mation which consists in that first content of organic harmuful substance is determi¬ ned, in particular polynuclear hydrocarbons and light plastics and the most fine grain, and next depending on the determined contents of organic harmful substance and light plastics adsorbent agent is addeed and thoroughly agitated with the soil.
Also known, there are the methods of solids, soil, and bulk substance reclamation where contamination of these substances is removed by washing, classification and sorting according to density and/or flotation.
The aim of the invention is to desing a method for treatment of loose and bulk substances, in particular beaches, rocks and other huge area surfaces contaminated with polynuclear hydrocarbons due to ecological calamities resulting from failure of transportation means transporting these products, failure of pipelines etc.
This aim was achieved in such a way that a water solution and activating agent wich are mixed with each other in the proportion of 0,5 - 10 g per 1 cubic meter of water . This is a carrier of granulated polymer which sum of surface is 20-60 times bigger then the sum of surface of treated substances. The solution of water and acti¬ vating agent is supplied under the presurre of 0,2 - 5 atm in the process of agitation.
The metod as per the invention consists in adsorbing hydrophobic hydrocarbons molecules by hydrophobic particles of adsorbent and next a solution consisting of water and activating agent is delivered into/on the contaminated substances. The polymers used has a very developed adsorbing surface.
The ratio of water against activating agent amounts 0,5 - 10 g of activating agent per 1 cubic meter of water and generates a solution which under the pressure of 0,2 - 5 atm washes out or transports the polymer.
Efficiency of the method as per the invention is conditioned by the proportion of the sum of granulated polymer surface which should be 20 - 60 times bigger then the surface of treated loose, bulk or large surfaces substances.
Polymer is added to contaminated substances and next under the pressure of 0,2 - 5 atm a solution is supplied which causes that the mixture is separated into three layers, the first of which is formed by polymer with adsorbed hydrocarbons particles, thesecond layer makes water, whereas the third one is formed by a layer or surface of treated substances.
The adsorbent is formed of granulated polymer having granulation between 2 and 15 min.
Adsorbent and the adsorbed substance are separated by means ow known methods by sgueezing or centrifuging.
In case of treatment of large area surfaces such as rocks, roads etc. spreading of adsorbent onto the contaminated surface is carried out by continuous supply of solu¬ tion under pressure. The adsorbent "sucks" hydrocarbons molecules and drop s off the reclaimed surface. Next, by means of water stream it is transported to eguipment where the adsorbent is physically separated from the adsorbet substance.
The metod as per the invention is effected in a closed system and facylitates achie¬ vement of huge effestiveness of treatment which guarantees its applicability in case of removal of the conseguences of ecological disasters caused by crude oil, oil and grea¬ se.
Claims
1. The method of purification the loose ond bulk bodies through mixing the loose bodies with an adsorption agent is characterised by that that a granulated polymer of 2 - 15 mm granulation is used as an adsorbent. The total area of this granulated adsorbent is 20 - 40 times larger than the total area of the cleaned bodies and a water and activator solution is used as an adsorbent carrier. The activator and water are mixed up in the following proportion : 0,5 up to 10 gram of the activator and 1 cubic metre of water.
2. The purification method as described in the claim number 1 is characterised by the fact that during the purification process the activator and water solution is delive¬ red und the pressure of 0,2 up to 5 atm.
