Abstract

A drinks vending machine has a delivery nozzle for liquid, for instance water, and a dispensing member for the delivery of powder or granular material. According to the invention the dispensing member is formed by discs (12, 13) rotatable relative to each other which bound chambers (17, 18) which communicate with the storage container for powder or granular material. One of the discs (13) is rotatable between a position connecting the chambers to the delivery opening and a position blocking connection of the chambers to the delivery opening.

Description

VENDING MACHINE
The invention relates to a vending machine, in particular for drinks, with a delivery nozzle for liquid, for instance water, at least one storage container for powder or granular material closed by a dispensing member and a delivery opening connected to the dispensing mem¬ ber, wherein the dispensing member is formed by a first circle sector-shaped disc and a star-shaped second disc rotatable relative to the first disc and located a short¬ er distance from the delivery opening. Such a vending machine is known from N -A-6503153. During use the user first takes a measured quantity of powder or grains from one of the storage containers and then adds for instance water thereto.
A drawback of the known vending machines is that the dispensing of the quantity of powder or grain material often entails problems. This occurs on the one hand due to fouling and on the other because the known dispensing means have a comparatively large number of components. In particular the execution of a full rotation of the rotatable disc for the purpose of dispensing is complex and time-consuming. A large number of components are required for the driving.
It is the object of the invention to provide a dispensing device with a very limited number of compo- nents and with a very small possibility of spillage which can be cleaned easily.
This is achieved according to the invention in that the second disc is rotatable back and forth between a position connecting the chambers to the delivery opening and a position blocking the connection of the chambers to the delivery opening.
The number of components in a preferred embodiment is extremely limited.
The chambers are preferably bounded by a first circle sector-shaped disc and a second star-shaped disc located a short distance from the delivery opening rela¬ tive to the first disc.
Further special features and advantages will become apparent from the following description of an embodiment. In the drawings: fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a vending machine according to the invention, fig. 2 shows a perspective view with broken away parts of the dispensing device according to the inven- tion, fig. 3 shows the dispensing member of fig. 2 with exploded parts, fig. 4 is a top view of the dispensing member ac¬ cording to the invention in an end position of the rotat- able disc, fig. 5 is a top view of the dispensing member ac¬ cording to the invention wherein the rotatable disc lies in another end position, and fig. 6 shows a view of the control mechanism of the dispensing member.
The vending machine 1 comprises a plurality of storage containers 2, 3, 4 and 5 and a delivery means 6 for liquid, for instance hot water.
The vending machine 1 further has a drip-tray 7. The bottom end of each of the storage containers 2-5 is closed by a dispensing member, for instance 8, according to the invention.
A dispensing member 8 according to the invention comprises a cylindrical housing 9 and a funnel-like part 10 connecting thereto. A protruding part 11 is further present on the cylindrical housing 9 for fixing to the storage container.
In the cylindrical housing is arranged a stationary circle sector-shaped disc 12 in addition to a circle sector-shaped disc 13 rotatable relative to disc 12. Situated at the top as seen in the drawing is a cover plate 14 which is likewise circle sector-shaped. The plate 14 lies loosely on an edge in the cylindrical housing intended for that purpose. The disc 13 comprises four sector-shaped parts located at mutually equal angu- lar distances, the overlying parts of which, for instance 15 and 16, are in each case of the same size. The disc 12 located thereunder comprises two circle sector-shaped parts located symmetrically relative to a plane through the axis .
In the position drawn in fig. 2 two chambers are defined, i.e. chambers 17 and 18, which are bounded by the side walls of the sector-shaped parts of the disc 13 and the upper surface of disc 12. These chambers are accessible from the storage space. The openings 19 and 20 in disc 12 serve as drop opening for the powder or granu¬ lar material. During use the higher disc 13 is displaced through an angle. The extent of the angular displacement is determined by the length of the slot 22 in the cylin- drical housing, which length can be varied by placing stop members 23 and 24. These stop members can easily be removed from the slot respectively placed therein by a radial movement. During use rotation of the disc takes place by operating the control handle 21 inserted into the slot 22. During this displacement the powder or grains present in chambers 17 and 18 are subjected to a horizontal sliding movement and carried into the drop opening 19 respectively 20. After the sectors 15 respec¬ tively 16 of the upper disc have been displaced so far that these sectors have been rotated away under the sectors in cover plate 14, that part of the chamber 17 respectively 18 located on the other side of the sector- shaped parts 15, 16 becomes accessible from the storage container and will be filled with powder respectively granular material. During the return stroke this powder is shifted horizontally and carried above the drop open¬ ing 20 respectively 19.
The disc 13 lies under bias to the position drawn in fig. 3 using the spring mechanism 26. When the control handle 21 is released a return stroke will therefore be performed. The spring mechanism 26 consists of a torsion spring, one end of which engages behind the arm 27 con¬ necting handle 21 to the disc.
