Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a cutoff valve for aspiration lines, particularly for tracheobronchial aspiration.
  • Aspiration is normally kept active at all times and aspiration at the tube is interrupted by means of a manual cutoff valve.
  • Cutoff valves can currently be constituted by shunts and cutoff valves.
  • Shunts in practice are provided by means of a body which forms a port for connection to an aspiration line and a port for connection to the tube; a port is also provided which is connected to the outside and has a larger cross-section than the tube.
  • Cutoff valves have a shutter, provided in the most disparate manners, which keeps the line for connection to the tube and to the outside normally closed, allowing to activate the aspiration at the tube when necessary.
  • a principal aim of the invention is to eliminate the above-described drawbacks by providing a cutoff valve for aspiration lines, particularly for tracheobronchial aspiration, which allows to keep the aspiration line cut off, without having a connection to the outside and without having to use a conventional valve element obtained by means of a plurality of mutually assembled components.
  • a particular object of the invention is to provide a cutoff valve that is particularly light and handy, thus facilitating its use.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide a cutoff valve which, by means of its particular constructive characteristics, is capable of giving the greatest assurances of reliability and safety in use.
  • a further object of the present invention is to provide a cutoff valve that can be easily obtained starting from commonly commercially available elements and materials and is also competitive from a merely economical point of view.
  • a cutoff valve for aspiration lines comprising a valve body which forms a first port, which can be connected to an aspiration source, and a second port, which can be connected to a tube and the like, said ports being interconnected, characterized in that it comprises a shutter which controls the connection between said ports and is supported by an elastic curved portion formed monolithically with said valve body.
  • figure 1 is a schematic perspective view of the cutoff valve according to the invention, in the open position;
  • figure 2 is a sectional view of the cutoff valve, taken along a median plane, in the configuration assumed during molding;
  • figure 3 is a top plan view of the cutoff valve;
  • figure 4 is a sectional view of the cutoff valve in the cutoff position;
  • figure 5 is a sectional view of the cutoff valve in the open position.
  • the cutoff valve for aspiration lines particularly tracheobronchial aspiration, according to the invention, generally designated by the reference numeral 1, comprises a valve body 2 which is made of a plastic material that is compatible with its particular use.
  • the valve body 2 forms a first port 3, which can be connected to an aspiration source which can be constituted by a centralized vacuum line or by an aspiration pump, and a second port 4, which can be connected to a tube and the like.
  • the ports 3 and 4 are preferably arranged so as to be mutually aligned and are interconnected; the first port 3 also preferably but not necessarily has a larger cross- section than the second port 4.
  • a cavity 10 wherein a shutter 11 can be slidingly accommodated; said shutter is constituted by a plate made of plastics wherethrough an opening 12 is provided.
  • the shutter 11 is connected to an elastic curved portion 20 by means of a stress raiser 21 which allows a certain flexibility in the interconnection region.
  • the elastic curved portion 20 is connected to a support 30, provided monolithically with the body 2, by means of a bending line 31.
  • the elastic curved portion 20 has a coupling tooth 32, which can be coupled in a snap-together fashion in a slot 35 formed on the support 30 on the opposite side with respect to the bending line 31.
  • the elastic curved portion 20 is formed monolithically with the valve body 2 and constitutes in practice the elastic actuation element of the shutter 11. In the closed position, the elastic curved portion 20 in fact keeps the shutter 11 in raised position, so that a solid region of the shutter is arranged along the line connecting the ports 3 and 4, thus cutting off the connection, as shown in figure 4.
  • the shutter 11 By compressing the curved portion 20, the shutter 11 is caused to shift, so that the through opening 12 is arranged along the connection between the port 3 and the port 4, thus allowing to connect to the aspiration the tube that is connected to the port 4.
  • a clip 40 which allows to apply the cutoff valve in a suspended manner and also acts as a locator element for the fingers when compression is applied to the curved portion 20 to open the connection.
  • a cutoff valve which is constituted by a single piece made of plastics and allows to obtain the typical characteristics of cutoff valves having a shutter actuated by springs and constituted, as mentioned earlier, by a plurality of mutually assembled components.
  • the invention allows to have a single piece which is made of plastics and is therefore light, handy and inexpensive, and allows to perform the same function as a cutoff valve having a much more complicated construction.
  • the invention thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the inventive concept.
