Hoses also returned the cooling medium to the surface. "Consumed” cryogenic fluid was released to the atmosphere.

  • the refrigeration unit of the present design is sufficiently compact and mobile as to be allowed to be placed proximate the pipe to be frozen in even those locations where space is scarce, such as in plants and offshore platforms and on vessels.

Abstract

Procédé et dispositif pour réfrigérer de gros tuyaux, notamment des applications sous-marines. Le dispositif comprend une chemise (14) conçue pour entourer une partie d'un gros tuyau (P), une unité de réfrigération de recyclage reliée à ladite chemise, celle-ci faisant office de chambre d'évaporation et, pour les applications sous-marines, une enceinte submersible (11) contenant une partie de ladite unité de réfrigération. Le procédé comprend la descente d'une unité submersible de réfrigération à recyclage au-dessus ou près d'un tuyau (P) et le recyclage, de préférence le recyclage inversé, d'un réfrigérant dans celle-ci.
