Definitions
- the present invention relates, in general, to the use of a magnetic control system in a device comprising an active makeup or working element.
- This device used a magnetic control system essentially consisting of two cooperating magnetic parts and relatively mobile one inside the other.
- one of the magnetic pieces, or first piece was integral with an outer shielding wall vis-à-vis the outside and had two opposite polarities generating a magnetic field concentrated on an air gap inside said first part, while the other magnetic part, or second part carried a brush and was magnetically retained in the first part while being able to struggle there axially.
- the present invention essentially relates to the use of a magnetic control system with at least two magnetic parts, one of which carries an active element and which are relatively mobile one inside the other. and magnetized in such a way that one of the parts, or first part, secured to a surrounding wall of shielding vis-à-vis the outside, has two opposite polarities generating a magnetic field concentrated on an air gap inside of the first part and capable of retaining the other part, or second part, in a device other than a rechargeable applicator device with a brush secured to a reservoir forming a cartridge with which the second part is associated and which is removably mounted in a body fitted with the first part.
- the active element carried by the second part is a brush, a writing means, a lipstick stick, a makeup pencil, a brush, a surgical instrument, a tool. precision mechanics or the like.
- the aforementioned first magnetic part is constituted either by two radially magnetized rings with opposite polarities, axially separated by a circumferential air gap;
- the second magnetic part is integral with the aforementioned active element and is housed in a reservoir mounted sliding in a body and biased by a spring also acting on the first magnetic part.
- the second magnetic piece secured to the active element is simply inserted into the first magnetic piece which is internally secured to a body, or, conversely, the second piece is secured to said body and the active element is integral with the first part mounted floating in said body.
- the active element can be constituted by a means or a tool for any use and whose damping of the force of support on an object, during its displacement on this object, will be advantageously useful for the user.
- Figure 1 is a schematic view in axial section recalling the magnetic control system described in French patent application no. 94 03 099, but currently used in devices or apparatus other than that which is the subject of this patent application.
- FIG. 2 is a view similar to FIG. 1, but on a smaller scale, and illustrating the lines of the magnetic field produced by the system represented in FIG. 1.
- Figure 3 is an exploded view of another embodiment of the magnetic control system usable in the context of the present invention.
- Figure 4 is a plan and top view of the system of Figure 3, here in the assembled position of the various elements constituting it.
- Figure 5 is a schematic view in axial section of yet another embodiment of a magnetic control system usable according to this invention.
- FIGS. 6, 7 and 8 illustrate very schematically and in axial section three phases of the operation of an exemplary embodiment of an applicator device according to the invention, and using the magnetic control system visible in FIGS. 1 and 2.
- FIG. 9 illustrates diagrammatically and in axial section another embodiment of the device according to the invention and also using the magnetic control system of FIGS. 1 and 2.
- FIG. 10 is a very schematic view in axial section of yet another embodiment of the device according to the invention and still using the magnetic control system shown in Figures 1 and 2.
- FIGS. 1 and 2 describe and recall the structure of the magnetic control system described in the prior patent application no. 94 03 099.
- This system comprises a first magnetic part 1 which consists of two rings 1a, 1b axially superimposed and axially separated by a circumferential air gap 2 constituted for example by a non-magnetic ring (not shown).
- the two rings 1a, 1b are magnetized radially so that the polarity of one ring 1a is inverse to the polarity of the other ring 1b, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 by the letters N and S.
- the two rings 1a and 1b are integral with a wall 3 for shielding from the outside, which wall has here and for example the shape of a cylinder outside the rings 1a and 1b.
- a second part 4 is magnetically retained, while being able to move about it freely in the axial direction, in the first part 1, this second part being able to support an active makeup or working element, as will be described in detail below.
- FIG. 2 on which the second magnetic part 4 has been omitted, clearly illustrates the lines of magnetic field concentrated on the air gap 2 inside the first part 1.
- the densest field is located precisely in the space between the magnetized rings 1a, 2a, while the shielding wall or armature 3, which closes the magnetic circuit, does not allow the magnetic field to escape, so that substantially any magnetic pollution is substantially avoided.
- the radially magnetized rings 1a, 1b may be constituted by magnets and the shielding wall 3 which closes the magnetic circuit will be made of a ferro-magnetic material.
- the second magnetic part 4 which will somehow constitute an element capable of supporting the active element, it may be constituted by a magnetic member or be made of a ferro-magnetic material.
- the first magnetic part 1 is composed of two half-shells 5 which are radially magnetized and have opposite and reversed polarities as shown by the position of the letters N and S in FIGS. 3 and 4.
- the two half-shells 5 are circumferentially separated by two longitudinal gaps 6 made of a non-magnetic material and leaving between the two half-shells 5 a space of for example 2 mm.
- the assembly constituted by the two half-shells 5 is integral with an outer shielding wall 3 made of a ferro-magnetic material, it being understood that the second magnetic part 4 will be lifted inside the two half-shells 5 under the effect of the radial magnetic field which they generate, it being also understood that the external armature 3 of shielding closes the magnetic circuit. It will be observed that here again the magnetic field exerted radially inside the half-shells 5 will be maximum at the level of the longitudinal air gaps 6, as shown by field lines in FIG. 4. Returning to FIG.
- the second part 4 (which is a cylinder or a ferro-magnetic tube) is slightly shorter than the magnet constituted by the half-shells 5 to promote the lifting force and the stability, which magnet is itself a little shorter than the shielding wall 3 so that the latter fulfills its function well.
- this advantageous configuration is favorable to the elimination of magnetic leaks at the edge of the magnet constituted by the half-shells 5.
- the first magnetic part 1 has, in longitudinal section, the shape of an I and is magnetized axially as materialized by the letters N and S.
- the ends 7 of the I are partly separated by an annular air gap identified at 8.
- the first magnetized piece 1 in the form of an I is carried by a support 9 which itself carries the outer wall or shielding armature 3.
- the second magnetic piece 4, which is the supporting piece made of ferro-magnetic material is external to the first magnetized part 1, that is to say is interposed between this first part and the ferromagnetic wall 3 of shielding.
- an active element which is carried by the second ferromagnetic part 4.
- the support 9 and the active element A are made of a non-magnetic material, at least in the vicinity of the magnetic parts 1 and 4.
- the magnetically cooperating elements can have a generally circular shape in cross section, but one can very well imagine, without departing from the scope of the invention, non-circular shapes, for example oval or polygonal.
- FIG. 6 shows an apparatus for applying nail varnish or various makeup products or industrial liquids, equipped, for example, with the magnetic control system shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
- a brush 10 is carried by a support 11 which is itself integral with the second magnetic part 4 slidably housed in a reservoir R of product.
- This reservoir R is itself slidably mounted in a body 12 and is biased by a spring 13 which also acts on the first magnetic part 1 which is the one visible in FIG. 2 or which can also be the one visible in FIG. 4.
- Figure 6 shows the device open, ready to use.
- FIG. 7 shows the apparatus after pressure, along arrow F, on the bottom of the reservoir R, with the aim of impregnating the brush 10 with product contained in the reservoir.
- FIG. 8 illustrates the apparatus in the position closed by a plug 14 causing the retraction of the first magnetic part 1 against the force of the spring 13, which also causes the retraction of the brush 10 thanks to the magnetic cooperation of said first part 1 with the second magnetic part 4.
- FIGS. 1 and 2 or even that of FIGS. 3 and 4 can find use in another type of device as shown in FIG. 9.
- the second magnetic piece 4 supported in the first magnetic piece 1 is secured to any tool O.
- the first magnetic piece 1 formed of magnetic rings 1a, 1b secured to the shielding wall 3 it is simply fixed inside a body 15 which is not a reservoir and which can constitute, for example, a handle.
- the second magnetic part 4 is secured to a body 16 via of a rod 17 for example, while the active element or tool O is integral with the first magnetic part 1 itself mounted floating in the body 16.
- the applicator device illustrated in Figures 6, 7 and 8 can be perfectly suitable for the application of various volatile products, such as nail varnish, products for correcting typographical errors, paints, glues, etc.
- the tool of the devices represented in FIGS. 9 and 10 can be a writing or tracing instrument, a lipstick stick, a makeup pencil, a brush, a surgical instrument, such as for example an electrosurgical unit, a precision mechanical tool or any tool whose operation with Magnetic levitation can be particularly useful and advantageous.
- the invention therefore allows, safely and with maximum efficiency and flexibility, the use of a magnetic control system in a multiplicity of devices or apparatuses for very different uses.
- the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described and illustrated which have been given only by way of example.
