Abstract
Pocket cigarette lighter comprising a clip (14) to allow the cigarette lighter to be attached to any mainly flat and thin object and detached, through the clip operating like an elastic pincer against the main body (11) of said cigarette lighter.
Description
"POCKET CIGARETTE LIGHTER"
The present invention concerns a pocket cigarette lighter.
Pocket cigarette lighters are often kept in pockets, in a bag, handbag or similar and get mixed up with small objects. When needed, this renders them difficult to find immediately with a consequent unwished- for expense of time and attention in looking for them.
Moreover, a smoker has to succeed in two separate search operations: for his cigarette lighter and for his packet of cigarettes or similar - in order to be able to smoke. On the other hand, once the cigarette(s) has/have been extracted from the packet, the smoker must replace the packet so as to free the hand that will operate the cigarette lighter. Given the small size of a pocket cigarette lighter, it can easily be lost or forgotten after use.
The main aim of the present invention is to provide for a pocket cigarette lighter which allows the problems mentioned above to be eliminated in an efficient manner, whilst being in a relatively simple and economical format.
With such an aim in mind, the present invention provides for a pocket cigarete lighter whose essential characteristic forms the object of the principal claim which is here stated in full. Further useful characteristics appear in the subordinate claims which are also stated here in full. The present invention is described in detail below, with reference to the attached plans which have been supplied as non-restrictive examples in which:
- figures 1 to 4 show the pocket cigarette lighter as invented, seen respectively from the front, side, back and in design format from above;
- figures 5 and 6 show the pocket cigarette lighter linked to a packet of cigarettes as invented, shown respectively from the side and front;
- figure 7 gives a prospective view in a different scale of the pocket cigarette lighter attached to a packet of cigarettes and held ready in the hand, as invented.
With reference above all to figures 1 to 4, no. 10 indicates the pocket cigarette lighter as it has been invented.
The cigarette lighter 10 comprises, as is usual, a fuel container 11 to contain a liquid gas under pressure. Said container 11 might be made of plastic, for example, and is fitted with valves to permit the outflow of gas (not visible in the plans), whose opening is controlled by a lever 12 which is operated manually. A steel wheel 13 which has been milled is turned manually so as to scrape like a file against a flint (not visible in the plans) so as to cause a spark. At the striking of the spark, the operator presses lever 12, thus opening the outflow valve of gas from fuel container 11 ; this lever is maintained depressed so as to ensure the continued outflow of gas, which has been ignited for the time necessary to light one or more cigarettes or similar. Once the manual operation ceases, automatic springs on lever 12 close the valve and thus cause the extinction of the flame.
In accordance with the exemplar illustrated as per the invention, a clip 14 is realised in a single piece with above-mentioned fuel container 11 , to allow the cigarette lighter to be attached to any mainly flat and thin object and detached, through the clip operating like anelastic pincer against the main body (fuel container 11 ) of said cigarette lighter 10.
As can be seen clearly in figures 5 to 7, through the use of clip 14, the cigarette lighter 10 may easily be attached to and detached from a packet of cigarettes P or similar. To this end, the clip 14 is inserted, for example, beneath the fold at the top of loose cover C of packet P so as to work with fuel container 11 , as stated above, in the manner of a plastic pincer.
As shown in figure 7, this arrangement allows the user to hold both packet P and cigarete lighter 10 and work the latter in a proper manner, thereby lighting a cigarette or similar.
A further advantage is that surface 11.1 of the fuel container 11 of cigarette lighter
10 opposite clip 14 is flat on the outside to ensure greater stability, for example, where the cigarette lighter is attached to a packet of cigarettes or similar.
As may be deduced from the above, pocket cigarette lighter 10 as it appears in the present invention allows the inconveniences stipulated above to be eliminated in an efficient manner, and this using simple and economical means.
It is clear that the structure of the clip can nevertheless change in respect of the description and illustration herein; it could, for example, be manufactured as a separate component and assembled at the same time as the rest of the cigarette lighter.
Claims
1. Pocket cigarette lighter, characterised by the fact that it comprises a clip (14) to allow the cigarette lighter to be attached to any mainly flat and thin object and detached, through the clip operating like an elastic pincer against the main body (11) of said cigarette lighter.
2. A pocket cigarette lighter as per claim 1, characterised by the fact that said clip (14) is manufactured of plastic as a single piece together with another part, for example a fuel container (11) of said cigarette lighter.
3. A pocket cigarette lighter as per claim 1, charactherised by the fact that surface (11.1) of part (11) of the cigarette lighter opposite clip (14) is flat on the outside to ensure greater stability, for example, in such cases as attachment to a packet of cigarettes or similar.
