Abstract

En référence à la figure 1, un cathéter d'ablation (1) destiné à la chirurgie cardiaque comprend une sonde (2), une électrode tubulaire (3) fixée sur la sonde de façon à pouvoir coulisser axialement par rapport à elle, et un système d'actionnement à distance (4) qui permet de faire coulisser ladite électrode (3). Une rainure de surface (9) formée dans la sonde s'étend longitudinalement jusqu'à la pointe (6). La rainure (9) reçoit un conducteur (10) qui relie l'électrode (3) à une source (15) d'énergie électrique régulable et qui est enfermé dans une gaine isolante souple (16). La gaine souple (16) et le conducteur (10) peuvent coulisser axialement à l'intérieur de la rainure (9) du cathéter (1). La gaine (16) assure l'isolation électrique du conducteur (10) quand l'électrode (3) se déplace le long de la tige (7). En utilisation, on emploie le cathéter (1) pour créer des lésions endocardiaques allongées à l'intérieur des cavités cardiaques ou des lésions épicardiques allongées à la surface externe des cavités cardiaques en appliquant le courant H.F. fourni par la source (15). L'utilisateur crée des lésions contiguës, par une série d'étapes, en déplaçant prudemment l'électrode (3) et en l'excitant.
