  • This invention relates to a penile prosthesis which can be used to remedy the effects of certain forms of functional impotency.
  • a common form of prosthesis comprises a pair of elongate tubes which are inserted into the corpus cavernosum of the penis and which are connected to a reservoir of an inflating liquid such as a saline solution through a pump. It is common practice to locate the pump in the abdomen, or alternatively the scrotum of the user in order that the pump is readily capable of manipulation to effect a transfer of the inflating fluid from the reservoir to the tubes whereby the tubes can be filled with the fluid to be inflated and in some cases distended to effect erection of the penis.
