Abstract

The invention concerns a method and a device for regrinding straight and helically grooved tools by means of a positioning head which is provided with a feeler pin which engages in a groove and is disposed in front of the grinding disc in the advance direction. In order that the tool can be reground over its entire length, a positioning head with two feeler pins is used. The first feeler pin, which runs in front of the grinding disc, is withdrawn from the groove before the latter tapers off or, if the groove profile remains constant, this feeler pin runs out into the open. The second feeler pin, which is rigidly connected to the positioning head, follows the grinding disc and continues to guide the headstock sleeve when the first feeler pin has left the groove.

Description

The invention relates to a method and a device for regrinding straight and spiral grooved tools with the aid of a positioning head which is provided with a stylus which engages in a groove and which is arranged in the feed direction in front of the grinding wheel.

As is generally known to the person skilled in the art, there are generally two possibilities for regrinding straight and spiral fluted tools: Firstly, a machine with numerical control of the individual axis movements is used. These machines have comparatively high acquisition costs and are well suited for larger quantities, but the exact geometry of the tool to be resharpened must be known or measured before regrinding the grooved tool so that these measured values can be transferred to the control.

Another option for resharpening grooved tools is to use a manually controlled resharpening machine that has a low purchase price and is also suitable for small quantities. For regrinding the spiral-grooved tool, for example, it is clamped at its shaft end. This can be done using a chuck, a collet, a mounting cone or another Quill added. The quill is moved manually in the feed direction. The tool geometry in relation to the spiral groove slope does not have to be known because the tool to be reground is positively guided by a stylus. During the grinding process, this engages in a spiral groove of the tool to be reground, the pitch of which corresponds to the slope of the contour to be reground. Since the grinding tool (grinding wheel) already requires exact guidance by the stylus when it enters the zone to be ground on the tool to be reground, it is arranged in front of the grinding wheel by a certain amount in the feed direction. Due to this advance of the stylus in front of the center of the grinding wheel, the stylus is already in front of the grinding wheel in the outlet area of the spiral groove. As soon as the touch finger leaves the area of the fully formed groove profile, the grinding process must be ended, since otherwise the re-sharpened contour is either distorted or the tool to be re-sharpened and thus becomes unusable. A similar effect then occurs. when the stylus leaves this groove in the case of a groove that runs out into the open. In this known method, the profile to be reground cannot be reground over its entire length on the tool to be reground. A method or a device of the type just described is assumed to be known in the preamble of claim 1 or claim 4.

The invention is based on the object of further developing the known method or the known device in a manually controlled regrinding machine in such a way that the regrinding of the profile over its entire length is made possible with the greatest precision. This object is achieved procedurally with the features specified in claim 1, device-wise with the features specified in claim 4. It is crucial that work is carried out with a retractable stylus leading the grinding wheel and with a second stylus running behind the grinding wheel and firmly connected to the positioning head. This is made possible by the fact that the first retractable stylus leads when grinding the beginning of the groove, while subsequently both styli guide at the same time over a certain groove length. After the second stylus has entered the groove on the tool to be reground, the first stylus can be withdrawn, but it must be withdrawn at the latest before entering the groove outlet. As soon as the first stylus is retracted before entering the slot outlet or leaves it when the slot runs out into the open, the second stylus takes over the guiding of the spindle of the workpiece spindle headstock. As a result, the chip face of the groove or the jacket chamfer on the tool to be resharpened can be reground over its entire length. The two styli must be easy to adjust to different tool geometries in a short time.

Above all, the different groove shapes, tool dimensions and spiral angles of the grooves on the tool to be reground must be taken into account. The positioning head with the two styli is attached to a clamp holder which is mounted on the grinding table. In order to enable the positioning head to be converted as simply and quickly as possible for different grinding tasks, the clamp holder is designed in such a way that it can be loosened by hand with a central locking screw, and is fixed again after it has been set. When released, the joints of the clamp holder can move freely so that the positioning head can be adjusted to the desired position. After this adjustment to the desired position, the locking screw is tightened by hand and the joints are now rigid.

Advantageous further embodiments of the method according to claim 1 are the subject of claims 2 and 3, advantageous further embodiments of the device according to claim 4 are the subject of claims 5 to 8.

Es zeigt: The invention is explained in more detail below on the basis of exemplary embodiments illustrated in the drawing. It shows:

Fig. 5 und 6 verschiedene Bearbeitungsbeispiele. 5 and 6 different processing examples.

In Fig. 1 it is shown that a positioning head 1 is provided with two styli 2, 3. The positioning device consists of the positioning head 1, a clamp holder 5 in the form of a freely movable articulated arm, which can be fixed in any position by a locking screw 5A, and a holder 4, with which the clamp holder 5 is fastened on the grinding table 11. The freely movable clamp holder 5 of the positioning device offers the possibility that the positioning head 1 with the two stylus pins 2, 3 can be adjusted very quickly and very precisely to the groove to be scanned on the tool 6 to be reground. The grinding table 11 is provided with guides for longitudinal table movements which are used for adjustment in order to bring the tool to be resharpened into a corresponding longitudinal position. Furthermore, a workpiece headstock is mounted on the grinding table 11, which receives an axially and radially very easily movable quill, which carries out the feed movement during grinding. At the front end of the sleeve, for example, a collet chuck 7 is attached, which is used to hold the tool 6 to be reground. Here, however, other clamping elements can also be used for clamping the tool 6 to be reground. This depends on the possibility of receiving the tool 6 to be reground in each case. Regrinding is carried out by means of a grinding wheel 8. Since when the grinding wheel 8 runs into the tool 6 to be reground, it must already be guided radially exactly. the first stylus 2 runs ahead of the grinding wheel 8 by a certain distance, while the second stylus 3 runs after the grinding wheel. The forward travel of the first stylus 2 in front of the grinding wheel 8 is determined by the grinding geometry and tasks. This gives a dimension x.

2 shows the engagement of the grinding wheel 8 during the regrinding of the rake face 9 of a tool 6. The positioning device with the styli 2 and 3 engages in an adjacent groove 10, the The slope corresponds to the slope of the groove profile to be reground or the casing chamfer.

3 and 4 it can be seen that the stylus 2, which leads the grinding wheel 8, is displaceable in a direction parallel to the central axis of the stylus 3. The stylus 3 is firmly connected to the positioning head 1, but is still easy to replace. The two styli 2 and 3 have the same geometry in their head area 12. Depending on the shape of the groove and the grinding task, the design of this head region 12 is designed constructively.

The stylus 2 is designed so that it is automatically retractable from the groove. This retraction and extension of the stylus 2 in the positioning head 1 is carried out pneumatically in the example shown, namely by means of the pneumatic connections P1 and P2. Another possibility of moving the stylus 2 is to extend it by means of a compression spring and to pull it back using pneumatics. The retractable stylus 2 is guided in the positioning head 1 in a bore 13 through a rear thicker shaft part 15 without play. The bore 13 is closed by a cover 14 which is screwed to the positioning head 1. This serves as a longitudinal stop when the stylus 2 is extended. When the stylus 2 is pulled back, its rear end strikes the bottom 16 of the bore. 5 and 6 show some machining examples for the engagement of the grinding tool on the tool to be resharpened and for the engagement of the positioning device.

It should be noted that not only spiral fluted tools, but also straight fluted tools with the method or with the Device can be resharpened according to the invention. The positioning device described can be attached to any tool grinding machine for regrinding tools. Another possibility for using this method or this device is for regrinding tools with only one groove. The positioning head must then be designed such that a stylus is in front of the grinding wheel and one behind the grinding wheel in the feed direction. It is then necessary to ensure that the two styli are arranged at a point on the groove that is not in the grinding area of the grinding wheel, otherwise the same principle is used as described above.
