Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a wet shaving razor unit and, more particularly, to an insert molded wet shaving razor unit having a pair of opposing blades and a vertically displaceable guard bar positioned therebetween.
  • wet shaving razor units having opposing blades are known in the art. For example, such arrangements have been employed in razor units designed for the shaving of women's legs. In this regard, these razor units provide an ideal design in that they allow shaving during both the pushing stroke and the pulling stroke.
  • the shave geometry of a razor unit results from the interaction of several components, namely, the guard bar, the blade or blades and the cap. By carefully positioning these components with respect to one another, a desired shave geometry can be obtained. More specifically, this shave geometry varies as the blade exposure varies, as the blade angle varies and as the blade span varies. In the typical razor unit, this "desired** shave geometry is predetermined and the razor unit is then manufactured accordingly. However, what may be considered a "desired" shave geometry for one individual may not be for another individual. In addition, even with respect to a single individual, that "desired" shave geometry changes as the contour of the surface being shaved changes.
