Definitions
- the invention relates to a method and a device as described in the preamble of claim 1 and claim 11, respectively, which are already known from EP 420 859 B1.
- drying material When drying wood, wood shavings or the like material, hereinafter referred to as drying material, ingredients are released from the drying material. These released wood constituents are predominantly organic substances, namely hydrocarbon compounds. If wood drying is carried out at temperatures below 100 ° C or even below approx. 130 ° C, the wood contents released are those that also escape naturally from wood that has not yet gone into decay. These substances, hereinafter referred to as released natural ingredients, are generally unproblematic and environmentally friendly.
- the situation is different with the wood constituents which are released at drying temperatures of above approximately 100 ° C. or above 130 ° C. These substances are referred to below as released non-natural ingredients.
- the corresponding temperature value fluctuates in dependence on the type of wood, the place of growth, the wood age and other such parameters.
- the release of non-natural wood constituents increases with increasing temperature and also with longer dwell time of the material to be dried in the relevant temperature range.
- a temperature between 100 ° C. and 130 ° C. can be regarded as the temperature at which the release of non-natural wood constituents begins.
- the exhaust gas leaving the pre-dryer is passed after separation from the pre-dried chips through a second burner operated with natural gas, which produces hot gases of 750 to 800 ° C and in the combustion chamber of which a catalyst is also present to prevent the oxidation or To cause combustion of the organic matter from the wood chips.
- the hot gases of the second burner are passed through a waste heat boiler and then released into the atmosphere as cleaned exhaust gas via a scrubber operated as a condenser. Heat is obtained in the waste heat boiler for preheating the hot air supplied to the final dryer, for reheating the cleaned exhaust gas discharged into the atmosphere, for press heating, for indirectly heating the final dryer and for operating a steam turbine.
- the object of the invention is to carry out the drying in such a way that both a high drying performance and a low environmental impact are achieved in a simple manner and with a comparatively low system and operating outlay.
- the invention is based on the knowledge already mentioned that the exhaust gas from a low-temperature dryer for wood chips contains essentially only released natural wood constituents, so that this exhaust gas requires no or at least no intensive aftertreatment or decomposition or separation of wood constituents and under Relief of the entire process can be released to the atmosphere in a short way.
- the non-natural wood constituents emerge with increasing degree of dryness, so that it is expedient to carry out the predrying as low-temperature drying and the final drying as high-temperature drying and only the exhaust gas from the high-temperature Subsequent drying to undergo decomposition or excretion of the (non-natural) wood contents.
- the exhaust air from the low-temperature predrying essentially has only natural wood constituents and can accordingly be introduced into the atmosphere without further ado or at least with comparatively little cleaning effort.
- Simplifying in this process according to the invention also has the effect that the heat requirement of the overall process can be covered by a single burner assigned to the final dryer, since the comparatively low heat requirement of the low-temperature pre-dryer can possibly be achieved with the exhaust gas from the final dryer can be supplied. Possibly. the heat from the exhaust gas of the final dryer can at least partially be given off indirectly to the pre-dryer.
- the two-stage drying process according to the invention thus combines a high drying performance that can be achieved by using even high-temperature hot gases with environmental friendliness, since no non-natural or only natural wood constituents are released and the required decomposition or separation of non-natural wood constituents relates to the exhaust gas the high temperature final drying is limited. This simplifies the procedure and the system required for this.
- Figure 1 shows a basic version of the two-stage drying plant for wood chips
- Figure 2 is a drying system expanded compared to Figure 1 by an exhaust gas washer and an indirect heat transfer to the pre-dryer.
- FIG. 1 shows a pre-dryer 1 in the form of a belt conveyor with a rotating conveyor belt 2.
- An end dryer 3 is connected via a hot gas line 4 to a burner 5, to which fuel and combustion air are supplied in the usual way (not shown).
- the end dryer 3 is heated directly, but instead, or additionally, indirect heating can be provided.
- a transfer line 6 with a delivery fan 7 leads from the final dryer 3 to a cyclone separator 8.
- the path of the wood chips through the system is shown by the chip path 9 as a line-like double line with flow arrows.
- the moist chips are fed to the pre-dryer 1 via the feed line 10 in order to form a drying material layer 11 on the upper run of the running conveyor belt 2 and to be pre-dried.
- the chips pass through the transport line 12 into the final dryer 3, in which they are mixed with the hot gases from the burner 5 and finally dried, in order then to reach the cyclone separator 8 through the transfer line 6.
- the finished, dried chips emerge from this through the discharge line 13 and are then used for further use, for example for pressing into chipboard.
- this exhaust gas is fed to the pre-dryer 1 and guided there in such a way that it rises through the upper run of the porous conveyor belt 2 of the pre-dryer 1 and thus through the drying material layer 11 located on the upper run. In this way, the heat contained in the exhaust gas is used directly for pre-drying in the pre-dryer 1. The exhaust gas is then released into the atmosphere in a manner not shown.
- a treatment device 15 is installed in the exhaust gas line 14, which serves to remove wood constituents contained in the exhaust gas, which originate from the final drying in the final dryer 3. This can be done in any way by means of known techniques, for example by means of thermal and / or catalytic decomposition of the relevant organic substances (hydrocarbons) or by separation, for example by chemical means or by cooling or condensation. As shown, the exhaust gas flowing through the exhaust gas line 14 is shown in the treatment device 15
- Fresh air is supplied via a fresh air supply line 16.
- the metered supply of fresh air allows the temperature of the gas entering the pre-dryer 1 to be adjusted in the desired manner influenced and at the same time the absorption capacity of the gas for moisture can be improved.
- the system is operated, for example, in such a way that the exhaust gas entering the pre-dryer 1 has a temperature which is comparatively low for drying, in the order of 100 ° C. In this way it is ensured that no pre-natural ingredients are released from the chips in the pre-dryer 1.
- the pre-dried wood chips are dried with hot gas from the burner 5, which has a temperature of, for example, 500 or 550 ° C., adapted to the dryer concept and the required dryer power. Although non-natural wood constituents are released, these are subsequently separated, decomposed or otherwise removed in the treatment device 15, so they do not reach the atmosphere with the remaining exhaust gas via the pre-dryer 1.
- a scrubber 17 is connected into the exhaust line 14 between the cyclone separator 8 and the treatment device 15, through which washing liquid is circulated by means of a circulation pump 18, which is sprayed in via nozzles 19 and collects in the laundry sump 20 as indicated.
- a heat-absorbing heat exchanger 21 is arranged in the laundry sump 20 and is connected via a heat transfer circuit 22 to a circulating pump 23 to a heat-emitting heat exchanger 24.
- fresh air supplied is heated via a feed line 25, for example also to approx. 100 ° C., which is then passed through the drying material layer 11, as already explained for the exhaust gas flowing through the exhaust gas line 14, which in this way also indirectly from the Exhaust heat is supplied to increase the predrying performance.
- FIG. 2 also shows a compressor 26 with which the heated fresh air and the exhaust gas supplied through the exhaust gas line 14 are sucked in through the drying material layer 11 in the pre-dryer 1 and then released, for example, to a chimney (not shown).
- the heat originating from the exhaust gas and introduced into the heat transfer circuit 22 can of course also be used in whole or in part for other purposes, in particular if there is a large amount of heat due to condensation in the scrubber 17. Furthermore, the use for heat generated at a comparatively low temperature can be expanded in a manner known per se through the use of heat pumps or other heat displacement systems.
