Abstract

A polygonal enclosure forming a tank or silo and including side walls (3) and corner posts (2) arranged around a vertical axis (10) and connected to said walls to define the geometricsl area of the enclosure. Said corner posts (2) are shaped in such a way that their cross-section fits into part of a cylinder, thus forming a concave surface facing the enclosure axis (10), and take up vertical stresses on the enclosure. The posts (2) and walls (3) are reinforced by vertically spaced horizontal reinforcing belts (1) secured to the outer wall of the enclosure for taking up horizontal stresses. The enclosure may be used as a tank or silo.
